4 out of 5 stars Good, if you are waiting for COD Modern Warfare 2   September 12, 2009

Like all other CODs this is a really good game. I like the switching of characters and the missions. I wish there was more ammo for your starting guns but I have no reservations about picking up an MP40 and killing with it. I just prefer to run through a level with as much American or Russian weaponry as I can.

Levels are good, graphics are top notch, and controls are always the same and great. The only one problem I have with this game is when you hit a little Japanese soldier with a big 30-06 bullet he almost never dies. You usually have to hit him 3-4 times before he is really dead. I am not a fan of head shot kills nor any good at them, I deal death on the move most times and have little to no time to stop and make sure a guy I put down is "really down" especially as I have shot him in the chest with a bullet that would make an exit wound the size of my fist!

I digress, the game is good and I love the chance to play all dimensions of it without having to "unlock" levels or weapons. Good all around FOS, not as good as COD 4 but good enough in the interim between COD Modern Warfare 1 and 2. I still play it and have had it for a year, hell I still play COD 2 and 3.

I bought this game for my 14 year old son to play on his XBox360. According to him, "A great flashback game set in World War II". Depending on level setting, can be really challenging. Love the Nazi Zombies!!

5 out of 5 stars GAME OF THE CENTURY   September 4, 2009

ok you can either like the campaign, and even if you dont like that you still got Xbox live which is on point. So I can garuntee that you will LOVE something about this game. The campaign is challenging and fun, and not to short but not to long. and of coarse when you beat it you get some fun stuff to. Xbox live is where it is at. Much better than Halo. You dont run in to those guys who have no lifes and play halo all day, so there is no point. IN COD WAW you actually can have the upper hand on someone with your equipment. So no fear, jump on in to COD: WaW and I sure you will never stop playing it.

3 out of 5 stars After COD4, it's a small Letdown   September 1, 2009

After playing with both COD4 (modern warfare) and COD5 (WOW) I must conclude that in the end COD5 is a small letdown. Before I tell you why it's not as good I must say that on it's own without comparison it's a great game. Single player ( solo ) is fun and offers a lot of Banzai action plus you get to use a flamethrower. Cool stuff. When you get to Multiplayer however, that's where the comparisons between the two need to be mentioned.

When I started playing COD4 ( modern Warfare) I signed up for xbox live and I gotta say "OMG" the level of intensity is not only nerve racking ( for the first few weeks ) but the adrenaline rush is amazing because playing against people is a whole new level of excitement. I had to stop playing before bed because when I laid my head down and closed my eyes I would actually be back in the map. playing the game. IT's ADDICTING!

COD5 - Mulitplayer
CONS
1) Weapons are weak. But not just weak they are inaccurate. I've emptied clips into players and didn't kill them. COD4 isn't like that.
2) It just "feels" awkward. I can't put my finger on it but the whole action isn't as smooth or intuitive or something. YMMV.
3) Spawning is a major weakness. you will be spawned next to enemies and get about 5 steps and you're dead. Spawning into airstikes aren't fun either.
4) Boring Ranking System. This isn't a dealbreaker but I really like to watch myself advance and get a new ranking symbol. You'll be stuck looking at a sergeant rank for about 25 levels.
5) Very annoying map system: Their system of getting you to buy extra map packs is genius from a marketing point of view. However, if you don't buy their map add-ons you'll sometimes be stuck in the lobby for 2 or more minutes constantly waiting for a map you can play on. There is no automated system to weed you out of maps that you don't have. And you will become frustrated - really frustrated!

The first point is really major. and that's why it can't compare to COD4

PROS
1) Multiplayer maps are mostly bigger and better detailed.
2) Dogs. In COD4 you can call in a chopper and that's awesome. However, COD5 has attack dogs roaming in packs going thru buildings etc. to eat you up. This can either be a PRO or a CON because I swear it sometimes feels like they only come after me in wave after wave. It can really suck.
3) Tanks. thanks for the Tanks. It's a nice change but they aren't forgiving in terms of accuracy. for instance, when your sights turn red indicating you have lit up an enemy, if you pull the trigger the tank shell usually goes past them. You have to make an extra adjustment and aim for the ground at their feet. Sounds logical in a real battle scenario but come -on. cut me some slack.
4) WWII related Perks that are nice
5) Game Overall: Graphics detail seem more detailed and that's nice.
6) Dedicated voting button makes it one-step quicker
