5 out of 5 stars A must have   August 20, 2009
John Galt (WA, USA)
This really is the crown jewel amongst the games on the XBox.
Things working for the game -
1. High-res graphics - this game really looks good while playing and also considering so much that is happening on screen most of the time, it is the most eye-pleasing game I have seen. Remember this is not a leisurely RPG, but a close-quarter shooter, so the action is frantic. You will certainly love the settings of the maps.
2. Smooth controller settings - the way the controls work for a huge variety of actions is higly innovative. It just feels so natural. Only when you try other games that you realize that you are able to do so much in this game with a few combos.
3. Huge-online community - One giveaway of the popularity of the game is that more often than not my friends are online playing this game rather than something else. The replay value of the game is fantastic given the different types of modes that you can play in.
4. Bad-ass weapons - seriously you have to experience sawing someone off with your lancer or popping their head off with a sniper or blowing them away with your shotgun.

The game disc stays in for me most of the time and now that Live has 'Games On Demand' I may be more inclined to play other retail games. I have a decent collection but this one just is more fun than any else.

5 out of 5 stars Gears of War 2 is almost perfected a year later   August 20, 2009
Billy R. Busby (West Coast)
First off Gears 2 is great by itself. The story alone is well worth the price of admission. I am biased as I am a huge fan of the series. Horde mode is fun and several games are copying it to some degree (see Nazi Zombies and Firefight). But multiplayer is very, very, very hit and miss. If you are pulling host you will most likely enjoy it but may the good lord help you if you are not because you will get very frustrated. The new all fronts collection is also a very nice addition to an already great game. Anyway I hope you will give the game a day in court as it is well worth it.

5 out of 5 stars One of the few games that didn't bore me   August 14, 2009

Most games bore me after a few plays, this is one of the few games that did not and that I actually played to the end. A near perfect shooter; smart, smooth and fun. I actually purchased my 360 to play Ace Combat, but I would have purchased it after playing this game if I had not done so before.

This game has decent voice work, a great story and perfectly designed levels. A must have, as a PS3 fanboy I still appreciate the 360 for games like this; if you can afford an Arcade unit, get this game and you'll agree the 360 has some power in that case.

5 out of 5 stars My Reason For Owning a 360   August 10, 2009

This game is simply amazing. It is very addictive. Fun with friends, fun online (and I finally got xbox live)... Gears is the reason I bought a 360. Im a Playstation guy myself. Buy it, you wont be disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Action-packed with an open ending   August 7, 2009

I enjoyed the first game immensely and when the second game came out my curiosity lead me to purchase it. The graphics were amazing as they were in the last one, the story line was great for an action game, and there was tons of fighting and action throughout the entire game. I felt that inbetween the movies there was never a dull moment. Also a great game to get an easy bunch of achievements. The only negative thing I would have to say about the game was the ending. Not only was the ending a cliffhanger for the next gears of war but the last "boss" if you want to call it that was nothing special or spectacular. If I'm at the last boss of a game I'd like it to be challenging and amazing. Not so much in this game but I still had tons of fun playing it. I loved the co-op as well. It's more fun to play with others. Anyways, four out of five stars definately. Enjoy!
