A whole lotta RPG for just a few $ August 9, 2009 Erik H. Reppen (Chicago) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
That's a lot of game right there. You just can't go wrong. I think I've already reviewed Baldur's 2 separately but this collection is a good deal. I find it lacks the over-and-over again appeal of the Fallouts but it has some of that.
Best game of all time? August 4, 2009 P. Burton (Orlando, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For depth of story, flexibility to play it in so many different ways and sheer playability, this is probably the best series of games ever. I began playing BG about 10 years ago and have just started again. It has hooked me the second time as it did the first.
For the type of game it is (CRPG), the graphics were amazing for their time. Compared with current new releases, the graphics do not match up but there is a strong community of 'modders' that have helped keep this series fresh over the past decade. Higher resolutions can now be played. I strongly recommend visiting the websites of Spellhold Studios, Black Wyrm Lair, Gibberlings Three and the Pocket Plane Group. You will need to apply official patches to these games anyway, but adding BG1TuTu allows the game to be played seamlessly from BG1 thru BG2:TOB, using the BG2 engine. Other mods allow for additional quests and NPC that can enhance your gaming experience further. Just make sure to read instructions carefully to avoid compatibility issues.
For the number of hours playability, this is great value for money.
Excellent July 19, 2009 Cartan Naylor (Houston, Texas United States) This 4 pack is really long. I mean if your the kind that wants a couple hours of light frivolous fun skip it.
If your the kind of gamer who simply hates to get so immersed in a game that 6 hours just went by and you still want to play on, you better give this one a miss.
Ok, you have been warned.
The fact is that this game (especially BG2) set the standard for adventure gaming and I dont think I have seen another game topple it from its lofty perch. Fallout 1 would take second place imho. But if your reading this I am probably just preaching to the choir. Its a must have for anyone who thinks modern games are "all that" just because of graphics. These classics are what good PC gaming is really all about.
"Go for the eyes Boo go for the EYEES"
it just doesnt get much better than this.
European DVD not US Format July 12, 2009 J. BANCROFT (NLR, AR) 3 out of 11 found this review helpful
Unfortunately, I was unaware that this product was only a European release and not US format. I looked but didn't find anything indicating this other than the small print on the back of the box. For those of us not intersted in choosing a new area for our DVD players in order to play this, it was a wasted purchase.
