All the buttons doesn't work August 3, 2009 Bakari (Sacramento, CA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Update to review. After updating the driver for a plug-in application called SteerMouse, this mouse works just fine.
Former review: All the buttons won't work with my Mac Pro. The side buttons, the right and left and scroll wheel work just fine. But the three other smaller buttons simply will not work.
Work horse gaming mouse. July 23, 2009 Henry F. Bodamer (Pittsburgh City of Champions) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I do alot of surfing and gaming.I end up wearing out about mice 3 a year. This mouse by far is the easiest to program and fits my hand well. The 2 side buttons are in the perfect position for me, and the switch on the fly DPI can be adjusted.Your not stuck with 400/800/1600.You can set in between ranges like 400/600/800.It is fairly large. If you have small hands it may be a problem.Like I said the 2 side buttons are great. You can crouch and reload on the fly.In the past 2 years I've used 6 different gaming mice and I always seem to come back to
the MX518.Built to last and easy to use , and a great price.
Improved FPS gaming July 8, 2009 Worf Finally ejected the pc mftr mouse and replaced with one to help with hitting what is being aimed at in FPS games. (COD4&5, BF2, TF2, JK2, etc.)
The in-game adjustable sensitivity is great when one is carrying multi primary weapons in one pack. It is nice to hit sniping & run-gunning w/o having to go out-o-game to change sensitivity. The mouse is comfortable in the hand (or large mitt as this writer has!) and the controls all have a very good sensitivity to the single-hand use.
The only thing that would be appreciated is if Logitech would NOT load their entire keyboard/mouse/etc software for a single product. (Just don't like having unused dlls & execs on the system. Call it old-fashioned.)
Highly recommended considering there are some which are higher priced.
Better than laser June 29, 2009 T. Reichart (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used an MX510 for awhile and wanted an upgrade. I bought the new g5 laser mouse and was dissapointed. Laser technology feels different and didn't seem to work as well. This mx518 is basically the same as my mx510 but has twice the dpi resolution. I have it set at the same speed but it is more precise to my movements. Not only that, but they improved the sliders. They are larger so they slide better and they don't wear down as fast. My mx510 sliders were pretty much worn through.
Lasted Long time June 9, 2009 Jason C. Dean (South East USA) My MX 518 recently died after 3 years of hard core use. Why the 5 stars if it died on me? Because I use my PC all the time and can be hard on my equipment so I tend to get the best. This mouse as far as I am concerned is the best corded mouse on the market.
The response time is great, the controls have a nice natural flow to them and the overall size is just right. I love the extra button options and the ability to speed the cursor up or down.
Gaming with it has been great. I play a lot of First Person shooters and this mouse flat out performs. Until it started to die recently, I never had any issues with it.
I have had several other laser mouses over the years but this is by far the best. Now that my baby is gone, I have another one on the way which is about the best recommendation I can give.
