Logitech MX 518 High Performace Optical Gaming Mouse September 10, 2009 Barbara Meuleman-girga (Bakersfield, Ca) While playing games on the computer, I constantly was irritated with the slowness of the mouse. Finally, I decided to do something about it, and did a search for a better mouse(yes, they do make them). When reading about the gaming mouse, I hesitated, thinking I do more than play games on a computer. But in the end, I purchased the mouse, and have never been happier. My spouse, who uses everything long past the time they should be thrown away, was dubious, until using it. It fits his hand correctly, is the right size for a man, but not too large for a woman (very comfortable, in fact). It has made all the difference in enjoying our computer or just using it. A great purchase that I wouldn't hesitate to do again.
4yrs and still a happy customer! September 8, 2009 Robb (Sacramento) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
That's right! within 4yrs I have purchased 2 of them and they have always worked great for every game. From FPS, WoW, City of Heroes, Champions Online, and even Aion.
I dropped my 1st one so it cracked the lens I simply replaced it with another one.
8 button mouse is the reason why I got this thing.
The other reviewers dropping the 1 stars all I can say is /shrug, you guys have have some bad luck. I'll be buying my 3rd one as my 2nd one is worn looking I'll just take it to work and use it there instead. I wouldn't buy any other mouse for gaming.
Beware, Logitech's SetPoint Software is a Major Problem August 18, 2009 J. Wilson (Denver, CO United States) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have no problems with the mouse hardware. But if you are a gamer playing CPU intensive games you should know that the Logitech SetPoint software is a disaster. I had serious mouse stutter, skipping and lag problems when playing World of Warcraft. After troubleshooting video graphic card, memory and cpu issues I finally turned to the mouse....and Poof! The net is full of complaints about these Logitech mice (mainly the wireless versions). After uninstalling the SetPoint software my FPS went from 4 to over 30. Who would have thought "simple" mouse configuration software would cause so much CPU activity? Apparently Logitech is aware, but unwilling or unable to fix the problems, and others seem to be completely unsatisfied with their customer service. So, you can use the mouse, but you may have to give up any meaningful configuration, which makes it a terrible choice for gamers. I'll never buy Logitech again, well maybe a $10 travel mouse....
Great for business use August 7, 2009 Dish Soap (Mountain View, CA United States) Recently, the mouse I've been using for almost six years at the office finally broke down. When the firm's IT department sent me a cheapo replacement, I decided to buy my own. I chose this one even though it was a gaming mouse because I wanted quality, a decent size and I didn't want a wireless mouse. I am more than pleased. The mouse is great for business work--terrific glide, great button and scroll wheel feel and terrific shape and size. Love it! I chose it over the G5 for two reasons. First, I didn't want to deal with the weird customizable weight system. Second, the G5 has a textured surface that would be sure to collect gunk. This one is almost the same as the G5 specification-wise (1800 vs. 2000 DPI, which doesn't matter for office work) but is more streamlined. If I didn't love the VX Nano I have at home so much, I'd be tempted to buy one of these for my home desktop.
Love it! August 6, 2009 Michael Lisanti (Gilbert, AZ USA) This is such a great mouse that I bought one for my mom!
She loves it too!
Highly recommended!
