This CD is best for kids over 12 months. September 19, 2000 R. Stewart (El Monte, Ca United States) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought Jumpstart Baby for my daughter when she was nine months old. It was the first time I had ever considered putting a baby on the computer. She didn't take to it at first, but once she was over 12 months old she began to enjoy it. She is now two and loves it so much that she ended up scratches in it so that it is no longer playable. She would always take the CD out of the case whenever she saw me or daddy sitting on the computer. I noticed that when she first got into the CD, her favorite game was connect-the-dots. Later, as her attention span started to grow, her favorite games were getting Teddy dressed, out on the farm, and hide and seek. She didn't care too much for the other activities, but that's okay. Since hide-and-seek taught her how to find things using words like under, inside, or behind, I really don't care right now if she doesn't know the color of the object. As she got closer to two, I realized that at times, she would follow Teddy's directions without my help. So this CD has taught her a lot. What's best is that you can actually incorporate what your baby learns into everyday life. I do like the fact that each activity includes tips on how to do so. And finally, she loved saying "good night" to Teddy when playtime was over. As a parent, you will be amazed at how your child will go from sitting at the game for 5 minutes to sitting there for almost half an hour as she becomes more involved with Teddy. All in all, it is a great investment towards your child's learning.
Best Software On the Market July 24, 2000 Susan Schnurr (Canada) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I purchased the 3 different software systems that I could find - Jump Start Baby, Reader Rabbit Playtime for Baby, and Sesame Street Baby and Me. By far, for my 15 month old son at least, the best is Jump Start Baby. He loves Teddy, who walks him through the fun activities, and he giggles with delight as he plays. This isn't the case with the other software brands that I bought. I wish I had only bought Jump Start Baby, as the other two have ended up collecting dust on the shelf. You just can't help giving your son the software he asks for.
A true easy to use baby software July 19, 2000 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
Like many other reviewers my son started watching this game before he could talk, probably around 10 months. We would sit in front of the screen and watch the animals. I would push a key and the animal would make a noise. Cause and effect. Immediate gratification. He got it...fast. This is a great piece of software to introduce your child to the computer. Talk about the keyboard and the keys. Sure, she may not understand the words but she will soon learn. These games are very simple, but what else would you want for your baby who can only say moo or baa? The Jump Start and Reader Rabbit series are perfect for babies and toddlers. If your child is not interested, don't push. Try another cd or just wait. Your child will probably soon develop an interest. Highly highly recommended!
J.Start Baby is more than I expected March 16, 2000 C Glass (Pennsylvania) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Jump Start Is Great! My 17-month old daughter enjoys the music, Teddy, and most of all the barnyard animals. After just a couple times playing it together, she knows what to do by herself now. It's not only for the younger kids, but my 4 year old likes to play it too! He enjoys the star drawings, he likes to guess what it's going to be before it's done drawing. Music is great, animation is great and my kids love it!
Helping baby eat February 28, 2000 Genvieve (Denver, Colorado) 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
I bought this for my child when he was 8 months old.... mostly to entertain him during meal times. He loves all the screens and smiles and laughs when Teddy comes on the computer (he's 10 months now). Jumpstart has even helped our son to start saying, "Baa Baa", "ruff", "hoo hoo", and other animal sounds. My only complaint (and this is my husband's too) is that Teddy never shuts up... and is a bit bossy. :)
