 Endless hours of pretend play PLUS mix & match value with other Mega Rig sets! December 15, 2008

I can't say enough about Matchbox's Mega Rig systems. We have the Mega Rig Construction set, Mega Rig Shark Adventure (ship set), and now the Mega Rig Space Shuttle set. What fun our 4-year-old twin boys have had with these sets! They love to mix and match the sets to make their own fantastic creations. They have had endless hours of fun, month after month, with them and especially love to play with them in the bathtub. My only complaint? The little stickers on the space shuttle set have not held up in the bath. But, they don't seem to mind. My only other wish is for Matchbox to create more of these sets. Perhaps an airplane/jet set? Or a robot set?

This is the best toy we have encountered in a long time. My son received it for his 5th birthday, and all the other toys have gotten tossed aside for this one. Even his classmates (he takes it - or parts of it - to show & tell every week), neighbors and friends are enthralled by this thing. Personally I don't like all the small detachable parts, but the kids LOVE the flexibility to create whatever their little minds can come up with.
This earns our household's vote for Toy Of The Year. We're buying it for all of our friends with kids. Add the stomp-on rocket coordinating piece, and grownups even get into the action!

My 4 yr old son got this for his bday. He and his sister played for hours, without fighting! They took turns being the space shuttle and the ufo. We also have the Mega Rig construction set, which was a huge hit, but we have lost a few pieces. Now we can use some of these parts with our new set!

My five year old absolutely adores this toy - he's usually very fickle with toys and doesn't stick with any one toy for very long, but this one has lasting power.
The frustration-free packaging was nice too (although with that packaging, it came *halfway* put together... but the instructions start at ground zero and aren't in color, so it was a little hard to figure out how to put the rest of it together).
It took him a while to figure out how to put the pieces together and pull them apart, but now he can do that, and he's *really* enjoying it. All-around great toy, to the point that I ended up getting him another mega rig set as well.

My boys 2.5 and 7 absolutely love this toy. They especially likw the alien and the alien spaceship. They love all space things and this fits nicely with some of their star wars play sets. My 2.5 year old has even been taking the little alien ship to bed with him at night! This is a great set for any kid who are into spaceships.
