4 out of 5 stars Martian Mattern Alien Maker   March 2, 2009
Southern Gal
I purchased this for my grandson. He enjoyed making the space aliens out of the goop. I only wish the aliens lasted a bit longer.

3 out of 5 stars My Son Enjoys It and Asks to Play It Regularly   February 1, 2009

I thought it looked dumb on the commercial, but my son asked for it, so I got it for him. He really enjoys it. It's basically playdooh and gel that hardens to make aliens. The aliens are very small (almost the size of those little animals you get out of the 25 cent candy machines). But my son (age 6) can make them on his own and saves them in baggies to play with later. It was worth the money.

My sons received this as a gift this year. They played with it on the day they got it, and it has been sitting in their room gathering dust ever since.

1. The directions say to let the "aliens" dry for 5 minutes. It really takes more like 20.
2. There is nothing to do with the "aliens" once you make them and "dissect" them except throw them away.

Basically, I see this toy winding up in a garage sale.

5 out of 5 stars Cool toy   January 18, 2009

We got my stepson this for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. He's 11. His sisters, ages 3 and 4, watch in amazement when he plays with it. They could sit there for hours, I think, just watching him create and dissect his martians. I never thought it would go over this well but he begged for it so we got it for him. Glad we did.

5 out of 5 stars Looks Messy, but its not!   January 18, 2009

Bought this toy for my 4 year old son (turned 4 2 months ago). After I read the initial directions and showed him how to do it, he was doing it all by himself within about 3 tries. He is even starting and stopping the kitchen timer by himself.

We live in a high humidity environment (louisiana) so the only thing that isn't quite right in the instructions for us is how long to leave an alien in the meteor mud before it becomes hard. Takes about 10-12minutes for us to get a hard non-gooey alien. Luckily my son isnt interested in gooey aliens to disect yet. He just wants the hard ones to put into the space ship/viewing pod.

Its a LOT less messy than letting him play with normal playdough! Would recommend to any child 4++.
