 Cute but messy April 9, 2009

Bought this for my nephew. As a parent, we all know keeping the parts/pieces together can be tough. Well, this is also a little tough to keep clean (at least with little ones.) The outcome is cool though cause they made a little toy. Sooner-than-later though, they get bored of the same little martian and want another. Before you know it, you have a bunch of martians they don't play with and end up in the trash. Wouldn't by this again.

I bought this for my 5-year old grandson when his baby brother was born in January. (Didn't want him to feel left out when baby got so much attention). He comes to our house every day after school, and this toy is the first thing he goes for. He loves making different aliens with it. Had to buy him more refills for it because he used up all that came with it. I think this is the only toy he has ever had that has kept his interest for so long.

We got this for my 7 year old on his birthday last october. It is the biggest hit I have seen with my kids in a long time. All the boys play with it, from age 5 to 12. We have gone through alot of refills. I even have fun with it:) The martians are fun to make, easy, and relatively not messy. Its pretty much the same thing as playdough with some goo. But my kids have never ever played with a toy this long. as long as there is martian matter my kids play with it.

I wasn't sure how impressed my 7-year-old nephew would be with this - he likes aliens but this set makes tiny jelly-bean-like aliens that aren't all that scary or interesting.
However, the set turned out to be absolutely addictive for him and his friends. The educational value comes from reading the instructions - other than that, it's a simple idea and easy to do, with enough stuff to make lots of aliens.

My son, 6 almost 7 yrs old, wanted the alien maker ...after getting it in Dec, he is still making aliens and shares it with his friends when they come over..2 of them now want it! He enjoys making the aliens and playing with them after. I do help him with the 'goo' but all else he does on his own. We just bought more 'goo' to make even more! A lot of fun! I would highly recommend it.
