Stupid toy February 17, 2008 Hannah's Mommy (Hampstead, NC USA) 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this toy for my 1-yr old. She does enjoy pressing all the buttons; every time you press even the same button twice there is a new sound/voice/line of music and for such a little person this is fun for a little while. However, the voice itself is not American and has the inflection all wrong. For example, you press a button and the phone "rings", then the woman says, "Let's call...Grandma?" instead of "Let's call...Grandma!" and her voice is generally uncomfortable speaking English.
This toy is not educational as it claims to be because the "answers" are given too quickly to be absorbed, by the aforementioned foreigner in her foreign way. For example, she will ask which is the "green circle". If you press the green circle she will rapidly respond, "This-is-the-green...cirCLE?" without any praise or indication that the child got the right answer. If you happen to press the wrong key, ie the red circle instead, the voice will do the same--no indication that the answer is wrong.
Overall, the voice is not American and detached and devoid of inflection for that reason--essentially, the woman does not know what she is saying. Her singing is off-key at best, as mentioned in another review, and at worst she barely recites the songs--again, probably because she does not know the songs. The educational aspect of this toy is considerably reduced by the toneless inflection and rapid fire answers. Thankfully it is cheap, but regardless I would not recommend this product to anyone.
Nice enough phone January 2, 2008 KT (SEATTLE, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We got this for our 1-year-old daughter who is obsessed with telephones. She likes it, but it doesn't mean she's not still obsessed with the real phone that mom and dad hold up to their heads when they talk sometimes. Also, the way this phone lights up reminds us of the episode of The Simpsons where the family goes to Japan and gets seizures watching television.
Ok, but not interesting for them May 12, 2007 epharm (MA United States) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
It is a good product, that sometimes my daughter likes to hold and get some sounds from. that's pretty much it.It depends mainly on vocal/sound effects rather than using tye big screen to associate with letter/number shapes.
I'd say it is good for a brief period, but doesn't attract as it should be. There are better out there.
DIAL AND DISCOVER PHONE March 8, 2007 G. Hashim 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This was disappointing. When the phone arrived,it had a nice medium volume. The next day the volume was so low, you could barely hear it,except see the lights blinking.I changed the batteries, but it still did not help.It was a waste, since my grand-daughter's loves phone ringing, and this does not. Giving the benefit of the doubt,my item may be faulty.
I threw the box, so could not return it. My advise is" Keep the box and return label" for sometime, incase you encounter the same problem.
What the heck? February 26, 2007 5 out of 28 found this review helpful
Not only did this phone not work, but the screen was really quite tiring on my eyes. The only ringtone that it had was a sound like beads being shaken up. The flashing light was distracting, and its features were extraordinarily limited! The camera option didn't work at all, and where the heck was the texting??? My parents bought this phone for me for my birthday, and it really made me mad!! I can see that this might be a good starter phone, but you can only get 0 calls froim it, and really limited reception in the mountains. Switch to a Razr as soon as possible.
