5 out of 5 stars Better than expected   February 13, 2008

I did order a 4x4x4 Rubik's Revenge Cube here and when I got the cube, it was stiff and hard to rotate. This new 5x5x5 was barely stiff and didn't require much lubrication. I use Silicone to lube the inside of the cube.

The cube is fragile like most cubes bigger than the standard 3x3x3. Though this cube moves very well and is built very well. My only concern is the 8 center pieces on each side. The very center piece of just fine but the pieces surrounding it are quite loose but are at least staying on.

People have actually complained about the cube being heavy, the pieces pop right off the cube a lot and the stickers peel too much.
The cube is heavier than a 3x3x3 and 4x4x4 but honestly, if you can't handle the weight of the cube you are just skin and bones. The pieces will pop right off if you try to speedcube with it or not take care of it; the commonsense stuff. Finally, the stickers will peel off eventually, but will peel immediately if you treat it poorly; scratching it, sliding it across a desk, storing it some place where it can be scratched or crushed.

Overall, the cube's construction is very well done and is not that challenging because I can solve a 3x3x3 and 4x4x4 without any trouble. This is a good brand, Eastsheen (a rival brand) cubes are garbage and this is the brand you should go with.

I got my 5x5 rubik's cube recently and it is very fun. I am a previous solver of a 2x2, 3x3, and 4x4 and the 5x5 is giving me a great challenge. However, I have already solved it but it takes me awhile. I can solve my 2x2 in less than 25 seconds, my 3x3 in less than a minute, and my 4x4 in about 2 minutes. This cube is great for me and i think and rubik's freak should consider this product. WARNING: Pieces may break off easily. Be careful with this cube for the first week or two to prevent explosion.

3 out of 5 stars It's fragile, but it should be fun.   January 16, 2008

I bought this for a friend and haven't given it to him yet so I wasn't very sure about how to rate this toy, but I did open it to add a note inside so I've played with it a little, but not too much because I was afraid I'd scramble the boxes and won't be able to fix it. But when I handled the toy, it felt pretty fragile but I don't think it would have fallen apart after a couple of days of play. It would probably break if it fell from the hands of someone though. I guess my friend would just have to be careful. This toy looks pretty challenging and fun though.

4 out of 5 stars Best puzzle in existence!   January 7, 2008

This is a must buy if you have already finished the 3x3 and 4x4 cubes. You will need move sequences from both to solve the 5x5 (as well as some completely new sequences). The stickers are terrible and will start coming off within a few days. I simply took them all off and painted it myself, which lasts longer anyways. Also, DO NOT TURN FAST, because when i started getting the hang of it, one of the nine center pieces popped right off and its unrepairable. The cube is still usable, but there will always be one piece missing.
