Its Ok February 24, 2006 Tracy Brewer (West Hills, CA) Worked fine for awhile, but now it won't hold a charge at all. Might just be the battery or the charger is broken, don't know for sure. Back to using 4-AA's each time.
Great Charger February 24, 2006 noahsmomme (Tennessee) Love this product. I have had now problem with the charger at all. Just press down to charge like the instructions say and it works. Saves a lot of money on batteries.
Faulty product! February 21, 2006 B.H. I only rated this with one star because there was not a choice for zero stars...this is exactly what others have said it is - a non functioning unit! We have had it less than one month and the battery is dead. Regular batteries work just fine in it, but we bought the charger so we would not have to use them! I just emailed Vtech about this issue and I am hoping they not only correct it but do not make me pay S&H as they did another customer. It is horrible customer service to provide a faulty product (which they obviously are now aware of yet it is still on the shelves!!!) and then expect the customer to invest additional money to have the problem fixed. This is Vtech's problem - they need to sell a product that WORKS and for those who unfortunately bought the faulty product - replace it COMPLETELY free of charge. This experience has really soured me on Vtech!
Faulty product February 2, 2006 RR (Alexandria, VA) As other reviewers have mentioned, the V-Smile does not sit well on this pocket charger and needs to be manipulated in order to get the red light to start flashing. Our charger worked for about a month. After that, the red light would flash for a few minutes and then go solid, indicating that the V-Smile was charged. However, the V-Smile didn't work. When I put regular batteries into the V-Smile it works. So, the problem is with the charger.
I contacted V-Tech about the problem and they said that they would issue a replacement for the faulty charger. Yet, I have to pay to ship the item to them. While I'm happy that they will be replacing the product, I think it's not great customer service to make the customer pay the shipping on a faulty item.
In the past, I have had an issue with a Fisher-Price product. They paid the return shipping on the item and issued a voucher in the amount of the purchase price of the item. This, to me, is great customer service.
My suggestion? Save your money and use batteries until V-Tech does something to fix the problems with this charger.
Game console does not sit right in it. February 2, 2006 Tammy McArdle (West Coast, USA) After several days of trying and trying to get this thing to work, we've given up and will have to return it. The only way it would charge in the beginning was if we held down the console with our hands (naturally, that's not something I'm willing to stand there and do for several hours). The console isn't heavy enough at the bottom to push down on the button that activates charging. We'll try exchanging it for another one, but if the second one is just as bad, we'll have to go back to batteries. That will get expensive since my kids love their V Smile and play it so much I've had to put new batteries in twice a week!
