cheap February 13, 2008 Ivan Jacobsen (Houston, TX) I bought this on a whim while on amazon, just to satisfy my 80's kid inside me, but only really played it a handful of times (was never really good at it. never got the full colors on each side). Both of my kids have played with it, and i understand that it is a pretty basic piece of plastic, but after only a couple weeks, the pieces were loose, and the stickers had begun to peel (this is from normal play use, not from us throwing it at a wall or anything).
So, as much as i wanted to give this a great review, I would think that there are other Rubix Cubes by other manufacturers that won't fall apart as this one has. Give them a try instead.
I disagree with many reviews December 8, 2007 Hadley Sheffield 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had no problems with this cube. The stickers are not falling off, and no centers have popped out. It actually turns like a dream.
This cube is much more of a challenge than the 3x3x3, and even the 5x5x5. It does not have fixed centers, which makes it need much more thinking. Overall, this is a great cube!
Rubik's Cube November 22, 2007 J. Beckett 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Purchased a 4x4 rubik's cube and it lasted no more than 5 minutes before it fell apart. The pieces started coming off of the 'ball' that is inside the cube. Don't buy this thing, it is a waste of money!
Great addition to my cube addiction October 30, 2007 AFluken (Northern California) This is a fun toy for any cube addict. I ordered it, then read all of the reviews about how it doesn't hold up. It seems to hold up just fine for me. It does take a bit of getting used to because the mechanisms don't work the same as a 3x3 but it moves quickly now that I have broken it in. I'm a big fan of the 3x3 and wanted the challenge of the 4x4. I was actually disappointed in that challenge. It took some time to get the hang of the 3, but the 4 was a little too easy to figure out. The 4 takes a bit longer, but it doesn't seem to be quite as fun as the 3 for some reason. In any event, it's a lot of fun to have a couple different ones around to play with.
Rubik's Cube 4X4 October 27, 2007 B. Stewart (San Francisco, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Rubik's Cube 4X4 can provide hours of endless entertainment, and also frustration. I must say that the 4X4 is my favorite of all of them because it takes more time than the 3X3 and is easier to move than the 5X5. It is the best of all worlds. Pick one up and try to learn how to solve it and impress all of your friends! The Product was pretty good quality. I use it a lot and the problem was the that the stickers began to peel off and then the colors began to fade, forcing me to buy another one. They should eliminate the stickers and just make the cubes permanent colored plastic, that way they'll last forever.
