2 out of 5 stars Tool broke after 1 day   December 27, 2007

I was disappointed by the quality of this set. The pliers broke after only 1 day. The tool belt we received does not close well so it cannot be worn. I would not purchase this again.

5 out of 5 stars Great fun for little hands   December 27, 2007

I bought this for my daughter's three year old birthday about six months ago, and she still pulls it out and plays with it.

The plastic board has a really cool design where, when used with the drill, it appears to be drilling holes in it. Really fun!

The drill looks just like a little (much safer) version of my Makita, and gets the most use by far. She also likes the screwdriver and hammer (doesn't every little kid like to hit things with a hammer?). Less so the wrench and nuts, probably because that requires more hand eye coordination, and is harder than using the drill.

One annoying thing is that the drill bit comes off pretty easily. It is easy to stick back in, but when you do that more than once it gets old fast.

Still, lots of fun to play with. Mine is has been going strong for six months and nothing has broken, too, so it seems to be pretty durable.

I'd buy it again with no hesitation.

5 out of 5 stars Great toy!!   December 14, 2007

I am very pleased with my purchase of this Pretend and Play Work Belt Tool Set. My 3 year old granddaughter was so excited when she opened this gift for Christmas and couldn't put it down. It is made well and I couldn't be happier.

My daughter has loved this since I got it for her when she was about 16 months old. The set stores in its own carrying case, which keeps it all together. The drill is so realistic it even has interchangeable "bits" (the two screwdrivers come out of their handles and fit into the drill if you take the drill bit out) so you can power screw and unscrew. It has a reverse setting, just like a real drill. You can pretend to drill through the plastic "board" with a neat mechanism that turns a gear inside the board to open a little door to let the drill pop through. My daughter also loves to pound "nails" into the plastic "board" and take them out again with the claw end of the hammer, and she is getting the hang of screwing and bolting, although she mostly makes me do the hard part right now at 21 months. She likes to run the saw into the groove in the "board" to pretend to cut, and it makes a nice "ricky-ricky" sound. She adores the tape measure, since it is just like Mommy's! She counts up how many inches long things are. The pieces in this kit fit together and actually work properly, as I would expect them to. My daughter doesn't wear the toolbelt at all, though, as it is sized for an older child and just falls off her. Sometimes she still tries to put it on and put all the tools in, but they don't stay very well. We just keep the belt in the case and play with the tools on their own. I highly recommend it, and I am buying another one for the boy across the street.

1 out of 5 stars Tool belt stains and tools break   September 10, 2007

This product is not worth the money. I read all the reviews and thought it'd be a good buy but the tool belt stains everything it comes near and the tools breaks easily. Sure it comes in a nice box but it's huge compared to how much space the tools take up.
I would not recommend the set. Go with something like Iplay's stuff. They always make some durable toys- not like this.
I also purchased the Learnings Doctor's Set and unfortunately I'd have to give the same review to that set. Don't buy it. It's broken already.
