Take-Along Tools are the best! May 12, 2007 G. Schultz (Raleigh, NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My grandson is only 9 months old and already loves anything to do with tools. At this age, he can only play with his tools while under supervision, but already these are his favorites! The tools are very well made and durable, and we expect him to have these for years to come.
Not Very Durable May 1, 2007 Rebecca B. Rhodes (Pineview, Ga USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This tool set just arrived yesterday and my 2 yr. old only played with it for about 5 minutes before the hammer broke. He was just hitting the nail into the side of the toolbox into the slot and the hammer split into two pieces. Obviously this toy is not very durable and I definitely would not recommend it. Now I may look for a plastic tool set, maybe it will last longer.
toolkit March 4, 2007 Jen Schellings (in the zoo) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
i bought this for my son who is a month shy of 2 & enjoys bob the builder & my tools. even though he is not the recommened age, i thought he might begin investigating it & trying it out if it was around. the more he plays with it, the better he gets at learning to use the tools. he has loads of fun with daddy (or me) while they screw together the plates & hammer in the pegs. my son is thrilled that he has his own tools, so he now leaves mine alone. this is a wooden toy that will swell or shrink with humidity, so there are some days getting the pegs out is just a bit stickier. but in general we have no problem with them. a simple pull & twist or using the claw on the hammer works. because we play with him with this toy, he is supervised, but i can see how a child might get injured. my son goes from toy to toy every 10-15 mins, so i don't expect him to be captivated by anything, but he does play with this a bit longer than others. it challenges him to experiment & is a great toy for us to use to play with him. he watches what we do & then tries to mimic us. he has learned on his own that he can put the screws into the holes, which are slightly larger than the screws, then use the screwdriver to turn them. i like it for it's old time toolkit design & because all the pieces fit inside. keep in mind the child's personality, temperment, type of play - supervised vs. unsupervised - & the likes of the child. my son, for the moment, enjoys this toolkit. when he's a little older that may change. i'll find out. i have bought a few toys i was certain he'd love, but hasn't touched since they day i brought them home, but this one's a keeper.
just a few complaints but overall pretty decent January 22, 2007 Rhonda Mankin (Southern, Illinois) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a fun little kit and the only complaint I would have is handle placement. It is sometimes hard to get pegs out once they have been hammered in. The paint finish could be better as paint seems to chip off easily. The price should have been a bit lower for the quality.
Tools for Tots January 11, 2007 S. Pershall (Waukesha, WI USA) We purchased this tool kit for our 2 year old son who insists on helping his Dad with all repairs. We thought he would play with his toddler tools instead of Daddy's tools. He plays with it on occasion but it isn't a favorite like we hoped. The age appropriateness is key. He will probably use it more in the next few years as his thought processes advance and he can make the screws work.
