Great product March 24, 2008 ldstexan This works like advertised. It does a good job of drilling a wide variety of the basic math facts. It has a very wide range of ages that it would be useful for. I did have some issue with the screen seeming a little difficult to get the clearest image on but my daughter (who uses it) says she has no problems. We made a chart for each number and when she can get the addition or subtraction set done within a certain time frame, she can cross it off and stop practicing it. We found this motivated her greatly to practice on her own to get her times down. On to multiplication/division!
great learning tool March 21, 2008 D. M. Bower The math shark is a great way for my kids to practice their math facts. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division... any where. They also use it to check their homework. I even use the calculator mode.
A Great Educational Math Toy March 18, 2008 Freda B. Bridgeman (Sperry, OK USA) I ordered this for my grandson because he goes to Sylvan and they use it for math students. They recommended it if we wanted a math product that kids think is a game. Hopefully he will be able to use it for a long time as he is 8 and it is useful up to age 12 or so. He was really excited when we got it and that says a lot.
Educational plus March 2, 2008 Deb in Milwaukee (Milwaukee, WI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Math Shark is not really a toy, but a tool. Basically it is electronic flash cards. My son didn't want to do traditional math flash cards and he is more willing to do this form instead, so it is well worth the money. Not sure it would make a great birthday present since it is not "fun" but might be something elementary teachers may like for their classrooms or parents for their homes since it has addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages. It can be used for multiple grades and grade levels.
Math Shark Has Teeth February 28, 2008 Stefanie Lowe (Boxford, MA) I purchased the Math Shark for my son who needs to practice math facts. I had previously used it in a school where I taught, so I knew the product well. The best thing about it is that it is well, a Math Shark. It's difficult to make this kind of learning FUN, so we do our best. The nicest thing is that it times you, so you can beat yourself, good for developing automaticity with math facts. There are levels too, which help to judge what you know and what you need to know. Least likeable feature is the difficulty of Level 1 fractions.
