a perfect book November 15, 2009 B. Laurie Gillespie (greenville, ms) This is a perfect book. I enjoyed this book so much - I do not usually read books more than once, but I listened to it on CD after I read it and enjoyed it all over again. This book was more than delightful - it was perfect.... we need more books like this one!!!!
Best Book I've Read in a Long Time November 15, 2009 J. Czajkowski (Stafford, VA USA) I hate being one of the herd, but I have to agree: This is a marvelous book. Not only were the characters interesting, but I also learned a lot about a time and place that were unfamiliar to me. I wish I could be friends with Juliet, Elizabeth, Isola, and just about all the rest of the characters. I almost feel sorry for the authors because I don't know how they can top this with their next book. But I'll be willing to find out.
Don't give up November 15, 2009 Jeanne L. Paver (Madison, Wisconsin) Don't give up on this book. When I started it I thought, "Where exactly is this going?"I kept on reading and I am happy I did so. It is a wonderful book about a war that has children transported to another area in order to be safe. I had an English friend who was one of those children transported to a safe place outside of London. I wish she were here to enjoy this story.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society November 14, 2009 Linda DiFrancesco (Pennsylvania) This is one of my favorite books of all time. I wasn't sure how I would like the letter format, but I absolutely loved it. The characters were so likeable and I really enjoyed the history lesson woven into the storyline. I am recommending it all of my family and friends and I plan on reading it again and again.
Wonderful engaging book November 14, 2009 mommy2girls (SC) I loved reading this book and getting to know the characters. I would reccomend it to anyone who loves history and stories about enduring friendships with a dash of romance.
