Was referred to this series by a friend, enjoyed so much that I can't wait for the movie to come out this month!

1 out of 5 stars Much as Expected   November 17, 2008

I had heard so much about this series, and since it was being made into a film, I decided to see what the fuss was all about. I found it much as I expected it to be, sub-par. The writing was stiff and repetitive. The characters were so shallow I couldn't even SEE them. I mean, Bella's only characteristic, the only thing that sets her apart from everyone else in the books was that she was clumsy. That's it. The love story between Bella and Edward is so sudden, so baseless that it is never fully believable. Moreover, every book in the series followed the same formula: boring, mundane minutiae for 90% of the book and then some horribly contrived "action" sequence toward the end. I mean, vampire wars in the open? This series stretches the limits of believability until the entire foundation of the book crumbles, leaving not a rich, complete story one can see and feel but a book that one can read. For those who loved it, and I've heard some raving reviews, good for you. All I can say is that there are obviously ALOT of people out there that saw something that I just couldn't in this series.

It is so easy to relate to the characters in this book! I found my heart falling in love and breaking along with the main character Bella. I could NOT put these books down. Read them if you have not!

5 out of 5 stars A Must Read   November 17, 2008

The Twilight Sage - 4book boxed set. I am a 59 year-old female who was astonished to see how much I ended up enjoying these books. My granddaughters were reading them, then my daughter, and they let me start book one - Twilight, and that was that. My younger granddaughter, who is 13, has hated reading always and she got started on this series and has surpassed her required reading for the year in just two months time for her grade. I can't say enough about this story and hope that adults don't think it is just for the young; they will enjoy them too. It was a fascinating storyline that led me down my childhood love of vampires and werewolves to a new level and I loved it. Thanks to Stephenie for a masterpiece and I can't wait to see the movie, and movies to follow to complete the series.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic books!   November 16, 2008

I used to work in a book store, so I actually read the first book, Twilight, right after it came out. It was the cover art that caught my attention, but after reading the first chapter I was totally hooked. Stephanie Meyer creates characters and story lines, that while there's no chance of experiencing them in real life, are extremely easy to imagine as being real. Each book just gets better and better and I recommend that someone who hasn't read any of the books yet, get the Twilight Saga book set because you're going to want to read them one right after the other!
