This book is in a class by itself March 29, 1998 Timothy J Mueller (New York, NY) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have read numerous books on the subject of screenwriting and story. McKee's book is in a class by itself, and I do not rate it a "10" lightly. Not only does he answer, with dumbfounding clarity, all those irritating questions about dramatic structure and character that so many other books bring to the reader's mind but never really answer. He does so without being dogmatic or formulaic. Hard to believe? For those of you who have, as I do, a bulging library of books on screenwriting, after reading this book I bet you will want to get rid of most of the rest of them! That will give you more room on your shelf for all the new screenplays you will be inspired to write (and sell) as a result of reading McKee's passionate book.
Simply the best of the rest - inspiring and very insightful January 31, 1998 george_osorio@scudder.com (USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a must for any screenwriter. It carefully emphasizes on writing screenplay cliches which I found inspiringly insightful. Very different from any other book in its class and it may just change the way you write permanently! This is my new bible.
