loved it, saw it too many times to remember January 9, 2009 Ava D. Rhodes (Maryland) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
So when I heard they were making a movie i freaked I read this book when it was first release in 06. I went nuts i was a little worried about the budget being so small, but heck all the big studios didnt want it. I hope they all feel stupid right now. The movie was awesome the way the emotions were played out and the angst that made you squirm in your chair was awesome. Every emotion came into play with this movie. You almost cried when she left charlie, laughed at the baseball scene, worried during the ballet scene. It has everything a TWI-hard could want.
CAn't wait for the next one!!!
I LOVE THE BOOKS, and I LOVE THE MOVIE! January 9, 2009 Maria P. Lim (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Yes, the movie isn't the best in terms of effects and other aspects, but I loved it just the same. I have actually seen the movie 8 times and I'd say, it just gets better every time. I also finished re-reading the series and it still felt like I read it the first time. I still can't put down the book and somehow, it made me cry more. I just love everything about the Twilight Saga. Thanks SM for this wonderful creation of yours. Just pre-ordered my copy of the DVD. Can't wait! :)
MIND TANGLING January 9, 2009 Radiance (Around Texas) 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
I persuaded my husband to go with me....it did not take much, anyway ... neither one of us could take our eyes off the screen... the chemistry ... facial expressions...slow motion...the extreme wanting... the burn. It was us but on screen... minus the vampire flare of course. For us it was like looking in a mirror....and the twilight saga is amazing. I thought about the movie for days....weeks. I was completely taken by it.... it was not at all what I expected... it was so much better to the contrary. I hope they keep all of the actors for the following film... sequels. With the same actors, well it just makes it all the more astonishing....that may not be the word I am looking for but I'm sure some of you follow.
True to the story....see twice at least January 9, 2009 J. LeTellier (Seattle, WA USA) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a response to those who've argued with the casting, score, special effects etc. How many of us have read a fantasy envisioning the characters and setting only to be sidetracked by a movie director's interpretation of same? My second viewing got past all the well done changes in the action to better appreciate how it remained true to the main events of the story, including script lines, and the growing relationship between Edward and Bella. The setting was breathtakingly beautiful as the Northwest tends to be and the soundtrack as haunting as the tale. Casting was spot on - one has to remember that Rosalie was gorgeous through Bella's self depricating eyes, so why would we expect more? Loved the third viewing even more!
Surprisingly similar to the book January 9, 2009 Val (RI) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Twilight is a pretty accurate representation of the popular book but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing. While I thouroughly enjoyed the book, there wasn't much going on in the beginning-or middle. The same goes for the film.
I have to give props to Robert Pattison for his spot on performance of the famous Edward Cullen. He looked the part and he played it very well. He was exactly as I imagined him to be. Kristen Stewart as new girl Bella was slightly dissapointing. She did a fair job but she wasn't how I pictured her-look-wise or personality- wise.
The rest of the Cullens were interesting and looked good playing vampires. The look and feel of the film fits perfectly with the tone of the novel. There is a constant gloomy hue throughout the film which I loved.
The special effects were OK. But on an unbelievable slim budget, I thought they did a pretty good job of it. They take a back seat anyway since it is really the relationship between Edward and Bella that make up most of the film.
I did like this film, alot, but I won't go so far as to say I loved it-no matter how much I loved the entire Twlight series. But, for the first film in the series, it's a pretty nice start.
