GRAN TORINO EXCELLENT MOVIE WE NEED CHANGE THE WORLD October 2, 2009 VERONICA V. (USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
GREAT MOVIE, WE NEED TO CHANGE THE WORLD NOW. " FORGET THE RACISM "
YOU LOVE YOUR FAMILY? I LOVE MY FAMILY TOO. PLEASE BE INTELLIGENT,
DON'T BE STUPID("!") LOVE.... FOR THIS WORLD, GOD BLESS YOU, AMERICA, MEXICO AND ALL THE WORLD.
DEBEMOS CAMBIAR NUESTRA FORMA DE PENSAR, COMO SERES HUMANOS.
LOS HUMANOS SOLO PIENSA EN DESTRUCCION Y EN DESTRUIR A SU PROPIA RAZA, CON TANTO ODIO Y RACISMO.
NOSOTROS MISMOS NOS QUEREMOS ANIQUILAR, ALGUNOS NO SOPORTAN QUE OTROS SEAN MEJORES O TENGAN MEJORES COSAS MATERIALES.
OLVIDENSE DEL RACISMO, DE LOS COLORES, TODOS SOMOS HUMANOS,
Y A TODOS NOS DUELE NUESTROS SERES QUERIDOS, NO HAGAS A OTROS LO QUE NO QUIERES PARA TU PROPIA FAMILIA.
COMO DIJO MICHAEL JACKSON: WE ARE THE WORLD, MAKE A BETTER PLACE FOR LIVING.
FORGET THE RACISM
THANK YOU

Don't know how many more movies Clint will act in, but this is a typically outstanding movie/story for him as an actor/director. Sure I'm a big fan, but you gotta love the way he tells a story. He depicts the contrast of the generations and cultures to a "T". I wish I could say this is my favorite movie of his, but I just can't single out one of his works. He has so many that have evoked earnest thought and entertainment. Did I mention just plain "escape fiction". One of the best actor/directors of our time.

This is possibly one of the best movies I've seen in a long time - I really appreciated the movie's theme. I think this is a movie I can watch every other month. (If it were every month then there would be less suspense because I'd know what's coming....).
Powerful drama about racism that should have been Oscar-nominated. September 28, 2009 John McClung (Freehold, NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Clint Eastwood is an Academy Award-winning director and actor, famous for movies like Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby, which makes one wonder why Gran Torino wasn't even nominated for any Oscars. It was one of the best movies of 2008, perhaps even better than Slumdog Millionaire. We may never know. In a role that the Wall Street Journal praised as "the performance of a lifetime", Eastwood plays retired Korean War vet Walt Kowalski. The movie's opening scene is the funeral service for Walt's wife, which begins the portrayal of him as a bitter, somewhat hateful old man who is displeased with today's youth. With his wife at peace, Walt hopes to spend the rest of his days in the Detroit house he once shared with her, but he is annoyed by his neighbors, Hmong immigrants from Southeast Asia, whom he has racial views toward. However, Walt gradually begins to develop a relationship with the Hmong family next door, guiding a teenage boy named Thao into manhood and taking steps to protect them from a local street gang. The plot builds from there, becoming increasingly serious and dramatic and culminating in a powerful ending that will blow you away. Gran Torino is a unique film that can be funny, thrilling, and even a bit scary, but ultimately touching and deeply moving. As with Million Dollar Baby, Clint Eastwood both starred in and directed this movie, and it even won him the National Board of Review Award for Best Actor, in a role that Rolling Stone called a "prime vintage Eastwood performance". Indeed, his character Walt Kowalski is a very tough and brave man who received several medals for his Army service and keeps his classic car, a Gran Torino, in pristine condition, hence the title of the movie. Gran Torino has some violence, but it is not frequent or even very graphic. The main objectionable content in the movie is the adult language, which includes a number of racial slurs, but if you can get past that you will find that the film has a very positive message that many of today's troubled youth need to hear. Special features for this DVD consist of two documentaries. The first is called "Manning the Wheel: The Meaning of Manhood As Reflected in American Car Culture". The second is "Gran Torino: More Than a Car", which visits Detroit and the Woodward Dream Cruise, an annual vintage car event where buffs describe the unique bond between men and vehicles. I highly recommend this DVD, regardless of whether or not you're interested in these features. The movie is worth buying because it's the kind of movie you'll want to watch at least twice to fully absorb it. Don't be fooled by Gran Torino's lack of Academy Award nominations; it's a great movie.
AMERICAN VALUES WHERE HAVE YOU GONE. September 27, 2009 N/A 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
GREAT, I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY, WELL YES I DO IT'S SO TRUE. IN SO MANY WAYS, THE [...]GRANDAUGHTER ASKING FOR THE CAR EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS DISRESPECTFUL TO THE EXTREME. THE NEIGHBORHOOD BEING IN A CONSTANT STATE OF DISREPAIR WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE HOUSE. I WEEP FOR THIS COUNTRY. THIS MOVIE SPELLS OUT SO MANY THINGS THAT WE WON'T OR DON'T WANT TO RECONIZE. SOME OF YOU WILL RIP ON MY CONSTANT SPELLING ERRORS AS A WAY TO DISTRACT YOU FROM THE TRUTH BUT WE ALL KNOW WHAT I AM SAYING. THE MAIN CHARACTER WHILE FLAWED SHOWED ME, IF NOT ALL WHO SAW THIS MOVIE HOW FLAWED AND SHALLOW OUR LIVES HAVE BECOME, THANK YOU CLINT EASTWOOD AND BRAVO.
