5 out of 5 stars Good Experience   February 26, 2010

This item came exactly as it was advertised and it was even still in the plastic which surprised me. I would definitely buy from them again.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE!   February 25, 2010

If you like Twilight, well, this is at least ten times better! And blu-ray only enhances the quality. Based on the Charlene Harris Sookie Stackhouse series (which I would HIGHLY recommend).

BUT IT and ENJOY!

Love how HBO has brought Dead Until Dark to life. Great characters. Anna Paquin is the perfect choice for Sookie. Love watching a show with a strong lead heroine who doesn't look plastic. The extras ae vastly entertaining as well. A mockumentary about life as a vampire is worth watching.

3 out of 5 stars Well, atleast it's better than Vampire Diaries.   February 23, 2010

I had my reservations about this series. Having seen some of the trailers before the series came out, I was disappointed in what I saw, but still gave the series a chance. The first four episodes were atrocious to me, simply horrible and boring. I had given up hope for the series and didn't bother to watch the rest. A dear friend of mine, who was also disappointed, but continued to watch informed me that the series had gotten better. So I have recently decided to check out the rest of season 1's last 8 episodes.

The Pros: The humor has tickled my funny bone, so that's good. I enjoy Tara's character to a point, as she comes off as realistic, just wish she wasn't so angry, but I do understand why she is. Lafayette is my favorite character at this point, love him. The vamp scenes in the show aren't the best, I do dislike when vampires tend to waste a lot of blood when they should be lapping up every drop simply for the sake of making them look ghoulish, but they do hold my interest such as the "Judgment" scene in which Bill had to face his punishment. That was entertaining to me.

The Cons: Still, not a handsome face to be seen amongst these characters. I'm sorry, I don't see how anyone can find the men in this series gorgeous. It had nothing to do with them being pale. Bill looks like a old drunk. Eric has enough bags under his eyes to go to Europe, not to mention he's just not attractive. Which hurts my feelings, cause I love Eric from the books. These are the same "men". And I'm so sick and tired of Jason's character all together. He's not cute, though his body is nice, however, that doesn't stretch with me. Not only that, I'm so bored with the sex scenes in this series, especially since so many involve Jason, a character I could care less about. Not too mention, if I wanted to see ugly people having sex, I could watch 70's porn and get the real thing.

I've never really liked Sookie that much, but in the series she's kind of psychotic, claiming love for Bill, but kissing Sam, then getting mad at Bill for giving a damn. And it's odd that she's so accepting of vampires, but when Sam reveals who he is, it's just "too much for her to handle". Yeah, right. She comes off as stupid too. If you could read ppl's minds, and there's someone in town trying to kill you, she should have braved the negative comments and read everyone's mind every day until she found the killer. So, there was a problem with the plot, it was weak.

So tired of Jason and his druggy V trips, I didn't know what to do. I started fast-forwarding past all things Jason, stopping only to view the interaction between him and the vampire he kidnapped.

The special effects are just so laughable, I swear, I HATE the sound the fangs make when they come out or go in. Why, WHY do they make that ejector sound as if a tape is ejecting out of a VCR? And watching Eric and Pam "roll" away in episode four left me in stitches.

And one more gripe. I'm sure Alan Ball thinks he's being so bold and bad with this little series, but I'm not impressed. Why is it, I have great detailed viewing of all the HETERSEXUAL sex in the series, but all HOMOSEXUAL scenes are fade to black? Why is it, we don't get to see Lafayette, (who mind you, is the cutest guy in the whole series,) have sex with men? On both occasions, he left the camera and that was that. Eric is also Bi-sexual too, will we be seeing him get freaky with men. And if memory serves me correctly, Bill and Eric have "had relations" before too, is that going to be explored. I mean, if QAF on SHOWTIME can show it, why can't TB of HBO do the same? Is it because he's black and gay? I want to know because it was quite glaring in the series how there's NO GAY SEX SCENES and TONS of straight ones! Get it together! or tone down the ugly heteros screwing.

That being said, Overall, not as bad as I had originally thought, I am interested in season 2, hopefully it'll have a little more vampire in it and some bolder gayer scenes. .

5 out of 5 stars not that it hasnt been said...   February 22, 2010

But this is possibly one of the greatest shows that has ever been given to us! Thank God for True Blood, Alan Ball, and the multitude of others who helped make this show happen. I could watch this over, and over.. and have. Just can't wait for Season 3, and to finally own the s.2 blu-rays to my collection too!!
