The Best Version! December 6, 1998 JPa9827560@aol.com (Massachusetts) This is the best version of "A Christmas Carol," with George C. Scott playing the part so great. Highly reccomended for people of ALL ages.
Excellent! December 5, 1998 George C. Scott as Scrooge was the best performace of all the movies made from "A Christmas Carol". Fantastic direction...and the ghosts bring out emotions you didn't think were possible.
Unforgettable classic; Scott the Best Scrooge December 4, 1998 Can't get the spirit in the midst of commercial hustle? Watch this version. Besides the splendid Scott, you've got the best Marley (Frank Finlay) and a great Crachitt (David Warner). The Ghost of Christmas Present is Edward Woodward (the Equalizer). Need I say more?
The best of all the film adaptations. December 1, 1998 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
George C. Scott gives a terrific performance as Scrooge, making the character far more real and less a caricature. The film is faithful to the original story, taking fewer liberties than some adaptations. Of all the film adaptations I have seen, this is the best. It retains much of the horror of the original ghost story and downplays the sentimentality. Excellent holiday viewing.
Our Annual Holiday Tradition! November 25, 1998 This my families' favorite version of "A Christmas Carol". The music is classic. The filming and acting are wonderful! George C. Scott is perfect for the part. If you haven't seen it, get it and make it part of your holiday.
