1 out of 5 stars Unfair Gold Box Con Job   November 8, 2009

Not much of a fun Amazon Gold Box deal when it's over in the time it takes for a webpage to open and add it to the cart (with a cable modem)! I'd rather wait in a Wal-Mart line for 1 or 2 hours because the chances of getting the product are better and more fair to the customers.

I owned a zephyr chipset 360 ,and it got the 3 red rings. then i finally after several months i bought a jasper chipset 360 and its alot quieter and cooler. if your looking for a xbox 360 that has a lesser chance of getting the red rings of death this is the unit You can identify a Jasper by checking for the power output of 12,1A on the back that is slightly visible from the hole on the back of the box. The Falcon Xbox 360s have a power output of 14,2A listed on the label.
so i sugggest you pick this up

1 out of 5 stars Prepare for a loud, failure prone system, and to become nickeled and dimmed   October 21, 2009

Pros:
-Plays games
-Heats up your room (good for winter in case your fireplace isn't working)

Cons:
-Noisy
-RROD
-You have to pay for EVERYTHING extra
--Hard Drive (+$90, got mine used for $30)
--Xbox Live ($50 PER YEAR)
--Wireless ($100)
--Controller uses AA's like mad
--NXE is not in an HD resolution and still manages to hang up often.
-Heats up your room (horrible for when its not cold)

Controller:
-Very uncomfortable to hold, my fingers slam into the battery pack on a constant basis causing my hand to cramp very easily. I can easily palm a basketball so yes I have very large hands. My hands fit fine on the PS3 controller.
-Very unresponsive analog sticks cause my thumbs to cramp easily. Its honestly like I am trying to move in syrup, the sticks are soo tight.
-Buttons unresponsive as well. You have to push them in all the way for it to register, terrible for games that require quick presses.
-DPAD is an abomination.
-Button layout is much better, big step up from the Xbox 1 controller.
-Love the triggers, Sony should have used a similar design, Very responsive and comfortable.
-Bumpers: Meh, there ok.
-Batteries: Buy a ton of them. Every week I go through 2 AA. DO NOT GET THE PLAY AND CHARGE KIT, mine stopped charging after a few months. It shows the light that its fully charged but it does not actually hold a charge for more then a few seconds. Instead get 3rd party rechargeable batteries.

Xbox Live VS PSN
-Xbox Live has two features (that I can recall, correct me in the comments) over PSN:
-Party Chat
-Cross Game Invites

-Cross Game invites work Good
-Party Chat was really half assed. If one of us didnt have all the ports forwarded it was impossible to connect. Eventually we figured it out.

But in terms of actual multiplayer gaming:
-Both PSN and XBL have a ton of players online. There is no diffrence in terms of skills of players between the two services. The amount of lag/disconnections/etc seemed to be equal when testing COD4 and Battle Field. PSN had more people talking online. In most games on XBL everyone is on party chat so nearly all games were completely quite.

So is it worth the $50 for Party Chat/Cross Game Chat? No.

But what about Netflix?1?!
For netflix you need to pay $50 a year for XBL AND pay for netflix subscription. If you already have Netflix you can get blu-ray (much better quality) or simple using your PC you can stream it to your TV.

Games
There isn't many good exclusives. Halo 3 , Gears 2, Mass Effect. Are the only ones that come to mind, if you like racing add Forza. Most games look equal on both the PS3 and 360 (such as COD4/WAW). There are some games that look better on the 360 (ghost buster). There are some games that look better on the ps3 (Oblivion). However in terms of exclusives the PS3 is definitely superior in that aspect.

Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Infamous, Uncharted 2, MGS4, Little Big Planet, Heavenly sword are a few of many really amazing AAA exclusives.

=========================================
All in all its a total waste of money. Get a $400 gaming PC, or a $300 PS3. Both have everything built in, both are far more reliable, and both have a huge selection of games.

5 out of 5 stars 100% Jasper   October 20, 2009

Console is 100% Jasper. I can't believe how quiet this system is compared to the Zephyr 360's that were out on release. The power brick is about 3 times lighter, and has holes in it to vent some air into it. I'm confident I FINALLY have an xbox 360 that will last me for a while! Manufacturers Date is June, 2009!!!
