5 out of 5 stars Xbox 360 Arcade is indeed a Jasper   July 29, 2009

After waiting 4 days for UPS to deliver my new Jasper, I set it up and attached my 120GB harddrive from my dead Elite.(It was not feasible to send it away to be repaired when Amazon had this Xbox 360 for <$200 delivered)

The first thing I noticed was how quiet the console was after 8hrs of playing. Another thing i noticed was that there was very little heat emanating from the console. I ran a little fan in back of it to insure proper air circulation, just like my old system.

It had some nice new additions that had me pleasantly surprised; like an installed game and a personalized avatar design kit.

The onboard 512MB memory is nice. The console gives one choice to use either it or attached harddrive. I opted for my harddrive, until maybe later.

Overall, IMHO, this XBOX is superior to my older Elite in many ways and the purchase price of $199.xx with free Super Saver Shipping is a no-brainer, when deciding to send it away for repair.

Checking what other retailers are trying to get for this new Jasper is mind-boggling. Glad that Amazon had it listed with free shipping.

5 out of 5 stars Its a Jasper!   July 28, 2009

The best way for the average person to know if they have a Jasper is to examine the power connector on the console. Where the cord plugs into the xbox 360 look at the little black bar above the six prong holes. If you see a split in the black bar.. congrats you have a Jasper! If it is one bar (no split) sorry not a Jasper.

Good Luck!!

5 out of 5 stars 515 Mb No Games / No Juegos   July 25, 2009

I bought mine on June 28th and arrived on July 6. My MFR is 05-06-2009 and 12V...12.1A;5V...1A it shows that is a Jasper. It came with 512Mb but you can only use 323Mb. This version does not bring the 5 Arcade games that come the other Arcade versions. The Xbox 360 run quiet. Besides the power brick produce too much heat so i recomend to have in an open place. I'm very happy with my purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Finally My Very Own Jasper.   July 21, 2009

I was quite skeptical before ordering this product, due to the fact that I wanted a Jasper, and nothing else. I ordered the Xbox 360 Arcade on Thursday July 16th and it arrived promptly on Monday July 20th. Eagerly I checked the voltage, and it was indeed a Jasper model. It comes with everything mentioned in the Amazon description, it also has more than 256 internal memory, and the power brick is noticeably smaller with 150 watts.

There is an easy way to determine if you have received the newer Jasper chip vs. the older Falcon chip.

Inside the little window where you can see the bar codes, look to the lower left in that window to see if you can read the voltage/amperage of the unit. If it shows "12V...14.2A;5V...1A", then you received the older Falcon chip with the 256MB. If it shows "12V...12.1A;5V...1A", then you received the newer Jasper chip with the 512MB.

I was apprehensive about buying the Xbox for quite some time, mainly because I'm a huge computer gamer and didn't see the need for a console. I finally broke down and bought one for me after getting one for my nephew's junior high graduation.

Now I'm wondering why I waited so long.
