The Da Vinci Code (Widescreen Two-Disc Special Edition) (2006) April 20, 2009 Keith Mirenberg (www.spaceanimations.org) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Da Vinci Code (Widescreen Two-Disc Special Edition) (2006)- I absolutely loved this five star movie and recommend it to everyone who loved the Dan Brown novel as well as those unfamiliar with the book.
Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautouu were excellent and Ron Howard and his entire team did an outstanding job (of writing, acting, direction, filming, editing, make up, sets, CGI, special effects, music, etc.). Even the smaller roles were very well cast with an excellent international crew.
Did I notice Lynn Picnett and Clive Prince, two conspiracy researchers (and authors of The Templar Revelation), make cameo appearances in the scene filmed on the bus? These two folks appeared in the documentary entitled "Angels and Demons". Lynn Picnett also appears in another documentary entitled "Unlocking DaVinci's Code, Mystery or Conspiracy".
contraversial religious theory April 16, 2009 Michael A. Scheurich (California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I only read the book because my girlfriend asked my opinion about it and watched the movie because I liked the book. Dan Brown is an excellent writer. The movie was fun to watch. After watching the movie I read the other Dan Brown books. I have to admit as an atheist I am biased because of the many years religions have attacked me for simply not believing in their gods. That being said, I noticed the Catholic Church was quick to defend their faith and try to debunk Brown's theory. The opinions of the book and movie seem to be based on sex. Women feel they have been discriminated against by male dominated churches and men in the Catholic clergy deny the movie has any validity. Regardless, there is no way one could properly identify a person who was supposedly a god. Does a god even have DNA? Evidently you can pose any belief you want and 2,000 years down the road their will be someone who will claim it must be true because it is old and it is written down. I still thought the books were fun to read and the movie fun to watch. I was however disappointed in the end when our hero and heroin didn't jump into bed and have sex and the pyramid scene at the end was simply ridiculous. So much for religious hype -- I am not really interested in their issues. Why fight over issues of which none are true?
The Da Vinci Code - The movie March 16, 2009 D. Hawn 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The book was great and when the movie came out it was a must seen. I like Ron Howard as a director and he did a great job. The movie was great on it's own. I would suggect in seeing the movie first and then reading the book.
Pauls Review March 8, 2009 Paul L. Noble (Cleveland, TN) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The movie brought out some very interesting ideas to the table and most of them had some basis in fact. the conclusion that Mary Magdelin is buried under the pyramid in Parris is not acurate. See the documentery the lost toomb of Jesus.
Pleasant surprise February 16, 2009 J. Webb 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A lot better than I expected. It has a feel to it like another famous one, National Treasure (Widescreen Edition). Tom Hanks carries the show with a treasure hunter's curiosity and made the plot intriguing. Overall, the movie has enough twists and turns that I never looked at my watch once. Good flick.
