Great for kids September 1, 2009 C. Hurst (Phoenix, AZ USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My 6 year old twins received these for Christmas last year. They've held up well even with repeated drops from a 6-year old height while running at a 6-year old pace. They're great entertainment for long drives.

The game system only worked for four days and now he has like 10 games that he got for his birthday and he can't play with them because I don't have the money to buy another one? Do you guys have returns on this item. One that works? Thank You.
lighter slicker and a lot better August 24, 2009 Nawin Kumar (U.S.A) Two years ago I got a nintendo ds for my birthday. At first I had my doubts but when I unboxed it I knew it would last and it has. Very nice quality and it very tough yet stylish they could have made its width a little thinner. Anyways right when I put a game in It responded right wawy no hesitation. I kinda did get addicted to it for some reason pictochat was also very very fun to play with . Overall it the nintendo ds lite is a stylish tough amazing handheld to play with. My ds has never frozen or gave any problems thanks nintendo.
Got it for my gf as a gift and she loves it! August 14, 2009 Han (NY, USA) I got this for my gf as a gift with Mario Kart.
She loves it!
It's very small and easy to travel with. She flies a lot so she uses it during flight to kill time.
She told me it reminded her of playing SuperNES when she was in elementary/middle school.
The battery lasts for a very long time.
It makes it a great gift for anyone at any age!
Good job Nintendo!
Amazing handheld for a good price August 13, 2009 Timothy A. Kish (Garrettsville, OH) First off the DS Lite is amazing piece of durable technology. The system has two screens with pretty good scratch resistance to them. The nice thing is when you close the DS the screens have protection. The buttons are small but any adult can use them without any fuss.
As it seems traditional with Nintendo the DS games are based off cartridges. Some gamers will debate why use such small storage medium. It is true DS games can not hold as much as the UMD for a PSP. But I see the benefit for one is there is no moving parts and the games can not get scratched. Also loading times are a minimal or non-existence. Another great thing about DS games is the size it self, each game is the size of an SD card which is awesome.
The graphics and sound are very good. When playing any DS game to me it reminds me of the Playstation and Nintendo 64 graphics. Many games have 3d sound and with the volume turned up everything is clear. Games are not going good to looking better or larger as those on the PSP, but if you prefer gameplay to graphics you are good for a DS.
Finally the games are why you buy any handheld and the DS does not disappoint. Many different types of genres are covered. Yes there is tons of casual games but look beyond those and will find many hardcore games to be played. The best genres in my mind on the DS are FPS, RPG's, Platformers, and Puzzles. FPS are amazing with the touch screen because it's almost paying with a mouse and keyboard. Anyone who is a fan of Final Fantasy needs a DS.
Buy a DS if you want fun games on the go. If your Nintendo fan this should be added to your collection of Nintendo products.
