An Expensive PaperWeight At The End October 26, 2009 Rich (CA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this adapter about four months ago and at first it worked pretty well but after buying a N-series router for my wireless home computer network the adapter wouldn't connect at all, after trying various ways I finally found out that this would only not recognize the router but wouldn't accept the higher WPA2 security as well even though it was on the menu selection screen. After contacting Microsoft and hearing what probably a few other hundred people have have heard that they're going to release a newer version that would accept the network I thought "Hey that's great can I send this and get the newer version since I just bought this adapter", but not only are they not giving out a release date of this supposed newer version bought you have to repurchase the damn thing. I'm sorry but after paying [...] for this and hearing that it really pisses me off so now I'm just using an Ethernet cable plugged to my computer and going that way. So if you have a lower router adapter than the N-series than fine this is a pretty good adapter and links up easily but if you're like thousands of others and have upgraded to the N-series router than pass this horrible headache of an item over...
Pricey Add on but needed October 23, 2009 Larry (CT USA) Easy to install but make sure you have enough head room where you store your 360 due to the antenna sticking up. Rather pricey (luckily I got it when the priced dropped to $75) but we all know how many add-ons are needed for a 360. Clears the room of all wires and I feel it actually works better than having the DSL wire plugged directly in.
Works very well with the streaming Netflix movies and playing online. Recommend it.
Does what it needs to October 21, 2009 Mike G. (New Jersey) It connects my xbox to my wireless router. My system is up a floor and across the house from the router but it picks up the signal just fine. I have not had any lag playing games online and downloads are nice and fast. My initial hangup was in the price but I figured it was best to just use the Xbox made adapter. It has been worth the price.
Simplified!!! October 18, 2009 Good Guy (Los Angeles, CA) The Xbox 360 wireless adapter is the best alternative for manually connecting to Xbox Live. Sure, it maybe a little costly but it pays for itself. As long as you know your router's WEP or WPA settings, IP and wireless router's settings, you will have immediate access to Xbox Live. I can only speak on my behalf when it comes to common sense. If you have your Modem, wireless router etc. in the same room as your Xbox 360 console, you do not need the XB360 wireless adapter. Just a simple yet reasonable long cat 5 ethernet cable that you can buy at eBay for example for cents on the dollar will do!! If you don't, then I highly recommend this wireless adapter. I chose wireless otherwise I would had to run a 25 feet ethernet cable around my house which would look ugly and create a hazard. The XB360 adapter will work perfectly just as long as you don't have mirrors, multiple walls, metal frames, marble counter tops etc. in between the adapter and your wireless router. Just read all your hardware manuals and use common sense. Give it a chance.
