1 out of 5 stars Fun At First....Bad Gimmick....Gets Old Fast Though   November 12, 2009

I was one of the many people who waited in line all night November 18, 2006 for the Nintendo Wii. After taking it home that first morning, I was dying from anticipation of playing the newest console made by Nintendo. I opened the console, I liked what I saw. Playing my first few Wii games felt original, for a while. I've never been obsessed with graphics, I even still play Nintendo 64 games so the outdated technology of the Wii did not bother me at all, and it still does not bother me. After playing several games on the Wii was when I began to notice something, the games don't require a lot of motions at all to be played. It is not necessary to swing your arm like you're really playing tennis, instead sitting on the couch and simply shaking the controller actually works exactly the same way. This wasn't that bothersome to me though and I still enjoyed playing the system. Where I started to lose faith in the Wii was after picking up some hardcore games for the console. I began by purchasing Resident Evil 4, Okami, Madworld, No More Heroes, Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Dragonball Z Tenkaichi 2 and 3, Twilight Princess, and more. I started to realize that with these games, precision is an absolute must. However, the Wii remote's motion controller actually takes away from the precision due to the poor detection skills of the controller. This results in lag, delayed moves, incorrect moves, and more. In several of these games, I found myself repeating missions and levels simply due to the fact that the Wiimote would make my on screen character perform the wrong moves. For example: in Twilight Princess, the shield bash is done by pushing the nunchuk forward, however, sometimes this registered as the nunchuk being moved to the side which corresponds with a spin attack. Similar scenarios began to play out with all of the Wii games I purchased. Every game began to get more frustrating and I began to play my Playstation 3 more and more. Finally, I came to a conclusion, traditional controls just work better for playing games, period. I had owned the Wii for three years yet had not played the Wii in over a year. Since coming to the realization about the control scheme, I finally sold it for an Xbox 360 instead. Now that I have an Xbox 360 and a PS3, I never run out of games to play and I never have to deal with a gimmicky controller that simply ruins the precision that a hobby such as gaming requires. I'm still hoping that Microsoft and Sony don't try to follow Nintendo too much with motion control gameplay seeing as it actually makes games more difficult and frustrating to play. If you're a gamer looking for a console with great games, is a lot of fun, and can be played for hours on end with full precision and control, don't go with the Wii. You can't go wrong with either a PS3 or a 360 though, both offer a wide variety of games in every genre and both respond the way you tell them to.

2 out of 5 stars My daughter said ''Wii is boring''   November 11, 2009

My daughter loved the wii when she first got it for Christmas and on September or October she said the wii is boring. She plays Call of Duty World at War on my brother's PS3 because she likes playing Nazi Zombies and she never
stops playing it because she likes it. So she should get a PS3 or an Xbox 360. She hates the wii now. The good thing
about the wii is it has Mario games and she likes Mario games. The bad things about the wii is: poor game choices for her to choose, no Nazi zombies on Call of Duty world at war on the wii version, and not too much mature games. My daughter likes hardcore games. All of her wii games are to easy for her. Buy the PS3 or Xbox 360.

5 out of 5 stars Group Fun for sure   November 10, 2009

I finally broke down and ordered the Wii because I have been to enough parties where people had it. It is a lot of fun for a group of people. It is not the kind of game system that you rush home to play by yourself, but when you have people over it is a lot of fun. Would recommend for sure

4 out of 5 stars From a sizzle to a fizzle   November 10, 2009

There are far more party games for this system, and childish games. Its not the family system all the time because not everyone wants to play lack luster games. The good games come out every now and then but seldom are they considerate as far as looks. Some peripherals have their set backs, like the Wii Speak that does not allow you to use it at all if you don't have any Wii Friends. Waste of $$$ on that note. Wii Classic remote could really be used for great games like King of Fighters 12, and Street Fighter 4, if they actually considered making them for the system, but its seen as the mediocre party game system that seldom gets quality content, and thats mainly through Nintendo itself. We are waiting, but it sucks, if the Wii has more juice than the GameCube then there shouldn't be any excuse for last Gen titles with a $50 price tag slapped on them like they are worth it.
