This product is cool for it's technology.
I like the golf game! Good graphics.
The sensor is good, placed even unevenly on top of TV and still picked my movements.
The surprising part was being able to access internet from this WII. Can access any site, even youtube play videos etc!!
Have it for 2 months but not really used it until totally bored.
Definitely a gadget to have but not sure how much one will use it. Kids will love it!!

5 stars for the amateur gamer....3 for anyone who has ever owned another console November 14, 2009 Jeff C. NY 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
The Wii is a very exciting gaming system for the initial few times you play it. After the novelty of the Wii remotes wear off, it loses its luster fast. Its one saving grace is the virtual console which allows you to download all of your favorite games from old consoles. That is what I spend most of my time doing on the Wii because you don't need to use the Wii motion remotes. You need to buy the classic controller for the virtual console games, which resembles a super nintendo controller. If you are looking for a game console for a party or to play with a group of friends, this is the system for you because anyone can play with such a small learning curve. The Wii is also great for small kids who will enjoy the controls and lack of depth in the games. The serious gamer will not enjoy the Wii. The controls become more annoying than fun after a while and many of the games you'd want are available and better on other consoles. I consider myself a mid level gamer, not hardcore addict but not a novice either. The main resason I enjoy the Wii is the Virtual Console and the Mario games. The main reasons I dislike the Wii are the lack of sophisticated games (at least half involve just swinging the Wii remote around in the air) and the graphics are worse than the other gaming systems out there.
One other way to break it down is this: If you enjoy sports games, role playing games, or shooting games...do not get the Wii. All of these games have versions that are better on the other consoles. If your goal in a gaming system is to just have fun with a group of friends and don't care about game depth or detail, or just need some Mario in your life, the Wii is a good purchase.
Down syndrome child Wii Bowling in 6 minutes! November 14, 2009 S. Harrington (Spring, TX United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Wii Sports program that came with this device was fairly intuitive for our 26 year old. This Down Syndrome child was Wii Bowling in 6 minutes! We plan on training her on as many other of the Wii Sports included as she moves along. Good job Nintendo!
Fun At First....Bad Gimmick....Gets Old Fast Though November 12, 2009 Siklootd (Santa Fe, NM) 7 out of 15 found this review helpful
I was one of the many people who waited in line all night November 18, 2006 for the Nintendo Wii. After taking it home that first morning, I was dying from anticipation of playing the newest console made by Nintendo. I opened the console, I liked what I saw. Playing my first few Wii games felt original, for a while. I've never been obsessed with graphics, I even still play Nintendo 64 games so the outdated technology of the Wii did not bother me at all, and it still does not bother me. After playing several games on the Wii was when I began to notice something, the games don't require a lot of motions at all to be played. It is not necessary to swing your arm like you're really playing tennis, instead sitting on the couch and simply shaking the controller actually works exactly the same way. This wasn't that bothersome to me though and I still enjoyed playing the system. Where I started to lose faith in the Wii was after picking up some hardcore games for the console. I began by purchasing Resident Evil 4, Okami, Madworld, No More Heroes, Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Dragonball Z Tenkaichi 2 and 3, Twilight Princess, and more. I started to realize that with these games, precision is an absolute must. However, the Wii remote's motion controller actually takes away from the precision due to the poor detection skills of the controller. This results in lag, delayed moves, incorrect moves, and more. In several of these games, I found myself repeating missions and levels simply due to the fact that the Wiimote would make my on screen character perform the wrong moves. For example: in Twilight Princess, the shield bash is done by pushing the nunchuk forward, however, sometimes this registered as the nunchuk being moved to the side which corresponds with a spin attack. Similar scenarios began to play out with all of the Wii games I purchased. Every game began to get more frustrating and I began to play my Playstation 3 more and more. Finally, I came to a conclusion, traditional controls just work better for playing games, period. I had owned the Wii for three years yet had not played the Wii in over a year. Since coming to the realization about the control scheme, I finally sold it for an Xbox 360 instead. Now that I have an Xbox 360 and a PS3, I never run out of games to play and I never have to deal with a gimmicky controller that simply ruins the precision that a hobby such as gaming requires. I'm still hoping that Microsoft and Sony don't try to follow Nintendo too much with motion control gameplay seeing as it actually makes games more difficult and frustrating to play. If you're a gamer looking for a console with great games, is a lot of fun, and can be played for hours on end with full precision and control, don't go with the Wii. You can't go wrong with either a PS3 or a 360 though, both offer a wide variety of games in every genre and both respond the way you tell them to.
