 Couldn't Get It To Charge November 5, 2009

I needed a video camera for a project I am working on. I looked at this and read the reviews and even though it has had problems I decided to take a chance. I have had the camera less than a week and I can not get it to charge. I tried charging the Ultra HD on the optional wall charger (approx 30 min.) and the light started blinking rapidly and the screen said "CHECK BATTERY PACK, CHARGING PAUSED" I took it out of the wall and let it sit for an hour. Then I started charging the unit again, but this time I attached to an extension cord and plugged it into my PC so I could see the screen. 30 minutes later the same thing happened again and I also got the message "ITS REALLY HOT". I called CS for Flip and they emailed me the same responses that are on the support website. They are no help. So that is why I am returning it.
It does have some good points: Easy to use. Lightweight.Great price.
Bottom line: If you can't charge it and get it to work, it is of no use.

i haven't had this camera very long or used it that much yet but i'm impressed so far with its ease of use and a decent quality picture...i'm ready for my close-up!

I'm not sure what exactly ot write for this little doo-wah. Loved the size, the portability (especially the velvet carrying bag that's included), and the extreme ease of which it operates. I suppose I was hoping for a better zoom, but this thing barely captures 6 feet in front of it. You really can't beat it for it's color and definition, but for events that are further away, get your old monster camcorder out and plug away. For quick little things, this guy just can't be beat. It fits easily into a pocket, purse, you name it, and you can turn it on with a flip of a button. Loved it for the size, but again, I was hoping for more. Great item, and I recommend it, especially since you can bang it around in your purse and it holds up exceptionally well. Fabulous for travel and for "sneaking" those shots in places that won't allow flash. Great idea but can it zoom more? :) Recommend!

Positive:
Small and portable
Real easy to operate
Controls are big enough and very responsive
Great battery time
Amazing in well lighted conditions
For its price point, okay enough for low-light situations
Flipshare software is loaded with useful features
Negative:
No HDMI cable included
Included pouch is small
No image stabilization

I bought this little camera to take on a medical trip to China and so far I can't find anything I don't like about it. It's easy to use, I get about 2 hours of video on it and my battery has not ran out. I did pick up an extra set of re-chargeable batteries just because I will be traveling. So far it's great and I'm enjoying sending my family short clear wonderful videos!
