Garmin Nuvi 765T March 18, 2010 Hugh H Layer Prompt delivery and works as expected. Glad I didn't buy it when they were $600.
Not an improvement over my nuvi 250w. March 17, 2010 D. Stone (M'boro TN United States) The voice is tinny sounding and garbled. Pronunciation of street names are way off, laughable at times (what did she say?!). The routing it suggests has just been awful. Doesn't seem to be up to date with current roads. I do like the moving map just for when I want to see where I am in the world, but that can be accomplished with a lesser model. Lastly, the thing posts advertisements -- "coupons" for local restaurants, merchants, etc. I suppose that they sponsor the free traffic updates? I personally find the ads annoying and intrusive. I'm sticking with my older 250w.
Garmin nuvi 765T - Disappointing March 17, 2010 James Poulin (Williamsburg, VA) The Garmin nuvi 765T has all the features but doesn't perform as well as I would expect for a unit that cost so much. The keypad mis types letters and numbers frequently causing me to have to backspace and correct, the keypad on my ipod is more acurate; The search function can't find addresses and stores, frequently finds a store several hundred miles away; The speech directions often tell me to turn right when the arrow on the screen shows a left turn; While inputting a street name into the search screen, it takes three tries before the Garmin lets me finish spelling the word, it keeps popping up with suggestions which don't contain the street name I am looking for. I like the information displayed on the screen but am tired of not being able to map a destination.
Great GPS March 17, 2010 Kupcake (El Sobrante, CA) Still figuring out all the features on this baby, but that's OK since I intend to keep this one for a long time. The basics are easy, but it does more things then I thought I needed. The bluetooth through the GPS is a great feature. I always hated having a bluetooth ear piece hanging on my head which never got good reception. Comes with one free maps update. Amazon had the best price and free shipping, so if you can get it there, do so. They have best service.
Excellent unit, would buy again! March 17, 2010 Jerry M. Ku (california) After much research, comparisons between models and brands, this was a great decision. I drive two seaters and the cabin is small enough that the built in speaker is fairly loud and clear, besides, most of the time I use the FM transmiter so I can hear my music and directions via the radio. I really don't use the bluetooth, but it works well and easy to set up. I love the freeway arrows that indicate the lanes you need to be on. Satelite aqcuisition is very quick, traffic report is okay, the thing is that in Los Angeles, rush hour is rush hour and no matter what road you take, it will be congested. The advertisment that comes with the traffic update is too small to be distracting so that's a non issue. If you buy this, I suggest you get the case with the flap for pedestrian mode. The only CON I see is that the power wire is pretty thick, but maybe because it carries antenna wires for the fm transmiter and for the traffic updates.
Overall this was a great deal for less than 190 at Amazon.
For those that have issues with the screen accuracy, I suggest tapping with the fingernails for a more accurate hit, get the 4.3 clear screen protector and you won't have to worry about the fingernails damaging the screen.
Owesome unit, I highly recommend it.
