Dead after three months February 19, 2010 E. Reavie (MN) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Everything seemed to be going fine for a while, but like others, I suddenly ended up with the dreaded request to "format the drive," after which it "failed to format," after which the drive was completely inaccessible -- junk. It was well taken care of, but is now completely non-functional. There are all sorts of solutions out there to manage the drive and change the drive letter; they do not work. Windows will indicate that it is plugged in, but no attempts to save it will work. Try another brand.
Unacceptably Slow February 19, 2010 J. Manthos (New York) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This thing is inexcusably slow. It's advertised as USB 2.0, but it's slower than USB 1.0. I've gotten FREE thumb drives that companies hand out at promotional events that are faster than this one. For $21, you can get a significantly faster drive. Thumbs down, Kingston. Only reason I gave it 2 stars is because at least it hasn't lost any of my data yet.
Good deal if it works. If not throw it away and try again February 19, 2010 Ronald J. Widner (Birmingham, AL United States) For the price, you might as well give it a shot, but there is a chance that it just won't work properly. Mine has a problem with writing to it. It'll just fail over and over again. I can reformat it and maybe then it'll work, or maybe not. I've never had a problem getting a file off of it, but putting them on is painful. But bottom line is, its unreliable for writing to. If you get one that works, then its a good deal. If you find one that has better reviews about reliability and the price is similar, I'd go that route.
Best value for money February 18, 2010 Rohit Sood I bought this USB on Amazon and was very happy with the purchase. 32GB flash drive for $70 was a perfect gift for myself :). Once you plug it into the computer, there are no software to install and it is very fast.
Only thing that I feel could have been added was a retractable metal front instead of detachable plastic cap. I will surely loose the cap sooner than later.
Crashed after 5 months of use February 18, 2010 M. P. Gimness (Lakeland, FL USA) Easy to use, however after 5 months critical crash erased 8 Gbs of data and left bits and pieces of my remaining data. I had backed up secondary to a problem with a prior version of the product but did not expect this to happen without warning. I still lost 3 weeks worth of data as my recent backup was faulty as well. I do not recommend this device as this is the second time this has happened to me. Their quality control seems to be slipping as my prior device lasted 2 years until I decided to upgrade, not when I was forced secondary to a drive failure.
