nice, nostalgic and useful August 14, 2007 Harry Pandolfino (York, PA USA) 26 out of 34 found this review helpful
The 35S is a retro commemoration of HP's history with the digital calculator. The black case and bevelled buttons are meant to hark back to those fondly remembered legendary early models which dazzled when they first came out. The 35S is also intended to address some of the peccadilloes that users complained about with the 33S. For those who balked at the crass silver case of the 33S, it's slanted buttons and its issue with the display, the 35S is the cure. The 35 packs a few more features as well.

This package comes with a HP33s calculator, HP33s User Manuals (French and English) and two small Chotkeh booklets. The HP products are as you would expect: good quality calculator for the price and professionally written documentation. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the Chotkeh manuals:
(1) HP33s Programming Guide (66 pages, plastic ring bound)
(2) HP33s Electrical Engineering Problems & Solutions (no page numbers, but about the same size booklet).
Item (1) is nothing more than a copy of key tables from HP's documentation with a couple more examples. There's nothing in this book that is not already professionally documented by HP's manual.
Item (2) is poorly written and incomplete. For example, when describing Group Titles an example was used from another engineering booklet on Surveying, but only the solution was modified for the Electrical section. Equation numbers and associated section page numbers were referenced, but the referenced source is not mentioned [as noted, item (2) does not contain any page numbers]. I believe the equation numbers refer to solutions in the NCEES Sample Questions and Solutions study materials. However, I did not see any reference to NCEES study materials in item (2). I did see it referenced above and on Chotkeh's website, but it was in the list of package items. Chotkeh assumes that you already purchased the study materials as part of the exam application process. But I don't see how your purchase gets on their list of items provided.
If you are looking for a package like this, I recommend that you buy a HP calculator (or another calculator satisfying NCEES calculator policy) and a study guide separately. The HP user manual is more than adequate in explaining how to do the rest.
I will say that the shipper did an outstanding job of processing a "no hassle, no hidden cost, no road block" return. I will do business with this shipper any day.
