good November 4, 2009 Chris Ng (Irvine, CA) works well. i use 88.7 fm. uhh seems to always have a constant low volume static in the background but not much you can do about that. other than that, pretty crisp fm transmitter, works good.
Doesn't charge my nano. November 3, 2009 E. Thoman (Gaithersburg, MD USA) This thing works fine as a transmitter. But, my iPod nano says "Charging is not supported for this accessory" so no charging is done. Otherwise it works fine.
FM November 2, 2009 Serabily (Saint Albans) This was a gift for my sister. Any AM FM transmitters seem to have a bit of static. It works for its purpose, but I guess could be better.
For under 10 bucks, whaddya expect? November 2, 2009 johnnyb3 (Orange County, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This unit does an OK job, but I get lots of interference and static as I drive around, which is pretty annoying. I do live in the LA area, so it's impossible to find three consecutive open frequencies, and while 87.9 is not used here, there is a 50-trillion-watt Mexican station that makes that slot unusable for me as well. I'd say if you're in a huge metropolitan area, find a different solution. That said, mono works a LOT better than stereo -- at least I can enjoy the music for about 90% of my commute now.
Also, just a caveat for those with a new-generation iPod Touch: The charging feature doesn't work with it. The mfg. does not claim Touch compatibility, [...]. Hey, a $10 lesson.
So Far -- Much Better Than Things 4x The Price November 1, 2009 SekarSequoia (N. California, USA) I hesitated to buy such a cheap, dinky looking thing but was getting tired of spending $100 a pop for bigger and fancier looking items that turned out to have marginal sound quality, not really easy to use in my Honda Civic (deep curved dashboard above the lighter), and which would break after three months of twice-weekly use. So far, the iTrip is GREAT! The sound quality is much better than a Belkin TuneBase (at $92!) and it is much easier and safer to pick up the iPod or the channel indicator to look at it while you can still keep your eyes on the road instead of looking down into your car to fiddle with it. It is small, compact, simple, and the sound is free of static. The channel indicator with its old style LED font is a bit dorky (and it would be nice if it were backlit) but it works well enough. Otherwise, a very elegant and effective design. I wish the max volume was higher (the interior of the Honda has a lot of road noise) but I can hear lots of things that I couldn't hear at all with the previous two converters. I highly recommend this item.
