A necessary tool at a fair price February 4, 2009 Nathan A. Edwards (Jacksonville, FL USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The 10bII is an excellent financial calculator at a great price. While it falls shy of the HP 12c Financial Calculator (12C#ABA) with regard to its ability to tackle some of the more complex calculations, for many it will probably never be used to its fullest extent. That is, one would probably be aware whether they needed to opt for the pricier and more powerful HP 12c before they began shopping; which is not to say that the 10bII could not be outgrown. The main selling points for the 10bII might be that, compared to calculators that compete on a basis of functionality and price, it is simply superior in terms of capability, ease of use, and craftsmanship.
Included with the 10bII is an extremely thorough and intelligible user's guide, a slip case, and the peace of mind that comes with knowing that the "CPT" button is nonexistent. Yes, amazingly, this calculator is that intuitive. The 10bII is also approved for use during the CFP exam.
Great financial calculator December 18, 2008 B. Shaw (Portland, OR USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Although I gave it 4/5 stars, it is still a great calculator and probably the best financial calculator out there. I just have a hard time adjusting to HP's version of "algebraic" entry rather than what I'm used to from HP, their "reverse Polish notation" entry system. I wish this allowed you to switch between the two as you can with some of their other calculators.
good product good price November 6, 2008 Alain Coefe (maryland, usa) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
i have read a lot amazon ratings before making the purchase.
i bought this product three months ago and it is still working fine.
i think it'll working this way for i do not know how long.
the size, the weight and the feeling when u touch the calculator is good.
there is enough screen to read with no problem plenty of numbers.
the design is simple and gives enough bells for the eyes to like what they see.
the keys are also well made so there is "i did not push this number without paying attention."
the price is around $30 and if you are a student you'll probably like that.
we are talking about a quality product here.
conclusion: buy the hp 10bII if you need a financial calculator.
The curse of Lulu may be broken November 1, 2008 Dead Boy (Spokane, WA) Like the reviewer before me, I too ordered the high-end model of the HP-10bII only to have the regular one shipped instead, and was still charged the higher price.
*EDIT* ~ I'd like to post an update to this review. Upon reading my complaint, the seller (Unbeatable Sale Inc.) quickly and promptly went to great pains to address my gripes and resolved things very quickly. Unlike most of them out there, this seller genuinely cares... I know; it was a surprise to me too! So consider this a withdrawal of my low 2-star rating (the edit-feature won't let me change the actual star-rating above) based on my experience with Unbeatable because they impressed me with their proactive customer service in this matter. They get 4-1/2 stars from me, (+1/2 star for taking care of things like a good company should, and +4 stars for actually giving a damn).
The calculator itself that I did receive works just fine. It's fairly intuitive to use and crunches the numbers pretty quickly, unlike some other low-price financial calculators I've seen before. The HP 10bII easily gets 5 stars on its merits alone. Even so, my advice to you, should you opt to buy this calculator here, is to write a reminder of which model you're ordering in one of the comment boxes.
Good Stuff October 15, 2008 D. Zimmer (Southern New Jersey) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I don't use this that much but it works well and is well built and cheap. There are software versions of this calculator that you can buy for your computer if you prefer but not as portable or hassle free as this.
