Difficult to use July 14, 2009 John D. Uelk 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
It was very hard to look things up in this book. Not very helpful in the ED. Would recommend EMRA's antibiotic guide instead.

I have used this little gem for fifteen + years. It is widely, almost universally, accepted among doctors as reliable, quick, and complete. Any practicing physician who prescribes antibiotics and treats a variety of infectious diseases should have a current copy of Sanford's.
Stay current, doctors! June 10, 2009 Seejay (Earth, superficially) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Which antibiotic for yersinia diarrhea? for a diabetic with cellulitis? And a non-diabetic with cellulitis? I showed up my chief with this book when I was a medical student. Don't let people get the wrong drugs. Get this. This book is faster than your epocrates and it doesn't require charging at the end of the day.
Yes - you've memorized the answers for the boards, but please don't use those answers to actually treat patients... use the CURRENT guidelines found here in this book.
Otherwise, you'll become one of those outdated old malpracticing doctors who hasn't learned anything new since the dinosaurs roamed the earth long before the discovery of DNA. Please don't be like them. Stay current. Buy this book every year (or so) and use it lovingly.
Can't be up to date without it! June 1, 2009 C. Johnson (California) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was starting to be embarrassed my previous copy was a few years outdated and concerned things changed -- they had!! I'm glad to have the latest with important new clinical information I use all the time. Worth every cent!
