Academically oriented.. June 1, 2009 T. Chandrasekhar (Pembroke pines, Florida United States) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
The book is well written and organized clearly. Kudos to the author for a good work done. The book is distinctly different from other books in a sense that it does not glorify precious metals as an alternative to currencies. It will still make Ron Paul, probably happy for the factual stance on federal reserve and the history behind it. This book complements nicely if you have a basic idea of what is money, what is currency, what is a federal reserve, What is ECB etc? My suggestion on the first book you should read is The Coming Collapse of the Dollar and How to Profit from It: Make a Fortune by Investing in Gold and Other Hard Assets ( One of the books in my listmania)
Well organized and clearly written does not neccessarily equate to interesting reading. The book has two disruptively annoying features. First is the tons of vocabularies a common man may not come across for years together in his life, makes me think it is more academic biased. Here is an example ( Words in capitals are those difficult words)
Page 22: The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the POPULACE alarmed (and hence CLAMOROUS to be led to safety) by MENACING it with an endless series of HOBGOBLINS. Other difficult words in that same page are ADJUDICATED,PLURALISM,ANTAGONISTIC,OBFUSCATION etc. For an average non scholarly reader, this is endless stream of difficult words that dilutes the message.
Second Feature: Lengthy quotes from other authors, almost one every other page and tons of references to other books.
Owing to the heavy nature of the book, both of this are excusable as you end up far more knowledgable about money and where we are heading.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I got the book via the innovative vine program for free, but the review has not been influenced by it.I do have read quiet a bit of other finance related books
Money Must Be Transformed to Meet Our Global Challenges June 1, 2009 Joel Hodgell (Seattle, WA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Tom Greco's newest book ("The End of Money and the Future of
Civilization") builds upon his previous books to explore new
material in the next phase of development (i.e. credit clearing)
for our monetary systems. Whether you are new to or are well
read in economics and global affairs, Tom's newest book covers
well the history of money's progression to our present system
and practical steps being used to transform it towards pure credit
clearing. Readers will find Tom's book to be a great resource and
reference tool for local community development, businesses of all
sizes, governments of all levels around the world, that presents
real solutions to address our biggest challenges in global warming,
poverty and endless materialistic growth.
Must read for everyone May 22, 2009 John Renesch (San Francisco, CA United States) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Tom Greco does a fabulous job of explaining our money system for people who have either avoided understanding this most powerful influence over our lives or held it in awe and mystery. In either case the uniformed are at the mercy of the lords of this "materialistic feudalism" - the tyrants of Wall Street. Everyone should read this book so they can begin having more dominion over their relationship with money and true wealth.
I read this book! May 6, 2009 Mike Aldana 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
Tom Gerco's new book makes a solid case for the cause advocated. This book well justifies the position informed communities and individuals will eventually be forced to take for self preservation. This book is informing to those who wish to know what they can do about the un-just dis-honest Federal Reserve "money/credit monopoly" and its destructive effects on society and the world. It is a good short treatise on the historical and current money problem and presents ground up/grass roots solutions that only outside the box thinking will be able to create. It may well present the only real viable option of "economic homeland security" available. It contains in depth historical examples that will tend to wake people and provide encouragement. Additional solution based admonitions and inspiration to grass root movements are freely provided to those who wish to be self governing. It is well worth the read and it should move you to action if you have a mind to be self governing and help preserve/guide the future of civilization.
