5 out of 5 stars La comunicación simple es más efectiva   April 26, 2009

4 out of 5 stars Vision that is portable   April 18, 2009

If you're someone who needs to cast vision for others (leaders, sales force, teachers, trainers) then this book is for you. If you have a vision, but you're struggling to get others to capture a passion for it this resource may help you begin to bridge the divide. It is especially for folks who say, "I can't draw." That probably means you're not oriented to visual input, but a large percentage of the population is. Get this book and apply the principles to see your connections increase. Pictures are persuasive!

3 out of 5 stars Good book but not for the kindle   April 6, 2009

Having been in the same role for about 25 years, I appreciated and agreed with Dan Roam's approach. The tool of drawing (and sometimes actually on the back of the napkin) has come in handy when talking with anyone in the corporate ranks. Dan Roam's specific approach is clear and precise. I plan on adding it to my own when the time arises.

Only problem ... buy the book in hard/soft cover. The diagrams are EXTREMELY hard to read on the kindle 2.0.

1 out of 5 stars Not readable on iPhone   April 3, 2009

The book discusses some interesting ideas. Unfortunately, those ideas are explored with drawings (which makes sense given the subject) that are totally illegible using Kindle for iPhone.

A complete waste of money.

2 out of 5 stars Positioning Ideas, Companies, and Movements   April 1, 2009

Back of the Napkin is a book about transforming and energizing business communication. Through modeling a tight functional process for imagineering drawings from business problems, the author gives non-artists a chance to communicate better. In our age where virtually every important (and most unimportant) business meetings are anchored by a slide presentation, a book like this is almost too little too late. With the rise of books like 'Beyond Bullet Points' and other articles and efforts to transform the excruciating 'bulleted lists' we see every day, Back of the Napkin goes one step further. It takes an everyday businessperson and artistic layman and makes them dangerous--someone who can communicate just as well with pictures. This is a must read for all you PowerPoint Jockeys (which today is probably at least 50% of all businesspeople), as well as any graphic artists who work for business clientele.
