For Papers November 1, 2009 kenta_chan 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am writing my master's thesis and noticed many changes in the APA style since 5th editoin. As technology changes, we need to adopt a new way to cite and to give the sources from web sites or on-line documents. This 6th edition explains what DOI number is and how to find it. In that sense, this book is great, but the 5th edition was easier to look up the reference examples based on what type of materials, such as journals, newspapers, college report, etc. I was using.
Be Care when ordering the spiral version October 31, 2009 Jannae 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered the spiral version of Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition, but paid for and received the bound version. I used a reseller on the Amazon website, instead of using Amazon directly. I will be reluctant to do this again. The 6th edition is diffferent from previous editions, but will be very useful for future writing which requires use of APA Guidelines.Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Sixth Edition
Not Good!!! October 31, 2009 Omelia S. Summerson (Miami, FL) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I found the new APA Manual to filled with errors. The smaller book was much nicer to handle and easier to find things.
8 years to get it right... October 30, 2009 mfx3 (Virginia) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Many reviews already address the fact that the APA has had 8 years since the previous edition to get this one right. They dropped the ball, then decided they wouldn't assume the financial fallout and would simply tell us (captive consumers) to print off pages and pages of corrections and stuff them into our copies. Then they took fire for their complete disregard for their consumers and decided to backtrack, claiming at this point to be working on an exchange program (which is for a very limited time only, and they still "strongly" recommend that you avoid taking them up on this offer). Keep your eyes peeled for the exchange program, which supposedly will begin 2 NOV. It will terminate sometime early DEC. This has been a horrible experience, and I recommend letting APA know it.
Many Errors October 30, 2009 Misty Stanley (Marion, Illinois) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Recently found out that there are about 7 pages of errors in this print edition. APA is coming out with a 2nd printing of the 6th edition. So you will be able to turn in this one and get a copy of the new one. I don't know how that will work for internet purchases!!
