Do not purchase this manual yet. After publication, APA discovered many errors in the manual and they are going to revise this edition of the manual to eliminate the errors. Don't waste your money on this version - wait until 2010 when they will publish the "fixed" version. Check the APA website for more information.

Today I contacted APA, their # is on the inside of the book. They asked me what print version it was, if it's the first print of the 6th ed. they legally have to send you an updated copy. They took down my info and e-mailed me a return address to paste on to an envelope and send the old version via UPS. They cover the shipping cost, except perhaps the envelope. I am sending my crapy 1st print off to get the revised edition. Make sure you all have the revised edition at no expense to you. what a big boo boo.

New information - consumers can receive a new copy of the manual, without the errors by calling the APA who will also provide shipping. I called to make sure it is not just a rumor but you only have until sometime in December: 1 900 374-2721. Go through the menu and choose the option dealing with style book questions/issues.
The first printing is full of errors and so far consumers are asked to just download and print the corrections available online. The APA is calling the errors inconsequential but I disagree. It is a reference book and we should not have to download pages of corrections. That is unacceptable.
APA has a monopoly on this style manual that students will use through graduate school. APA is hard enough as it is without allowing a guide with errors to see the light of day. We had over two weeks of confusion in my classroom because different versions of the book had conflicting information.
APA style writing is about precision in written communication. We ask our students to write papers that are pristine not only in the information that is being conveyed but in how they format the paper. Attention to detail means something. Or, is supposed to.

The product shipped fast and was good until the publisher had a recall because there were errors in it. The publisher will be providing me with a copy of the errorless manual in 7 to 10 business days.

The APA Manual, 6th edition, I received was full of errors. I went to the APA website and downloaded the corrects to the book. The corrections ran 27 pages. Make sure you get the second printing which comes in a hard cover with sprial binding. It became available in August.
