I am so impressed! February 16, 2009 Hayley A 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
My book was in perfect condition! The seller took the time to pack it so as not to damage it at all during shipping, it looked brand new and was a great value; I am very happy!
Good for Math February 3, 2009 P. Urzagaste (USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
When I got this book I thought that was the best to study the GRE, and really is... Kaplan are just the best, while you read the book you feel that somebody is talking to you, and they make jokes and stuff... is not a boring book and goes directly to the point.
The math part is really good, but I have to admit... "Cracking the GRE" by Princeton is better for the verbal, so If you really have the money to buy those two books... it will worth it... if not... just buy this one, this one is very good too.
Horrible service January 23, 2009 Gwendolyn Capell 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I ordered this book and it took me over a month to finally get it. I was not contacted by the company at all informing me it was going to take longer than the week promised. My money was taken promptly and it wasn't until after I contacted Amazon that I heard anything at all. It's s good thing I wasn't ordering this as a gift. I would think twice before doing business with this company again.
Pleasantly Surprised January 23, 2009 J. Fortman (Oakland, CA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
First, I am not a huge fan of test prep companies. I think its all organized crime. However, I was pleasantly surprised with using this book for preparation for the GRE. I was looking to increase my score and I hoped that this book would show me what I was doing wrong and it did just that! In fact it did it so well I increased my score by a whopping 200 points on my overall score for the actual GRE General Exam. I never thought it was possible due to me being terrible at standardized exams.
Second, I like the features that this book offers. For instance, the math reference guide is pretty much a summary of all the different concepts you need to know for the math section. I made flash cards of the concepts that I did not know and it helped me out tremendously. Moreover, there are other helpful reference guides such as the Top GRE words which several appeared on the actual exam. But I do believe that the best feature is both the CD which contains approximately 6 practice test for both the math and verbal section as well as the practice tests/problems which appear for both sections in the book.
The only issue I do have about the book is that the first full length practice exam on the CD where some of the graphics for the geometry section are somewhat hard to read, but other than that if your seriously looking to raise your score and you have at least three weeks to devote to complete the work assigned in this booklet I am sure you will increase your score on the GRE!!! Even if you do not perform well on standardized tests such as myself :)
Technical Difficulties December 24, 2008 Michael R. Saberian (San Marcos, TX) The printed prep manual was very thorough with regards to the verbal and quantitative section. I do not think it did adequate preparation for the verbal section.
The disc on the other hand left much to be desired. It was touch and go as to whether or not Windows would read the disc. Frustrating is the polite term I can think of.
