This book is everything any student need to be able to score higher in GRE exam.
Misleading Scores March 21, 2009 Jennifer Lee (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used the ETS Powerprep CD and this book to study for the GRE. So far, I have only done the Verbal workout in the Kaplan book. The highest verbal score I've gotten so far is a 470 w/ Kaplan. My verbal is 720 on the ETS Powerprep though, and my highest math has been a 630 (in one sitting, my highest has been 1300). I'd take the scores the CD gives you with a grain of salt! You can use the book for vocab review, but other than that it is pretty useless. A lot of the strategies in the book are also not helpful. While the CD is useful in getting you acquainted with the GRE CAT, the book does nothing of the sort. This book was a colossal waste of money.
Good product, but... March 21, 2009 Sarah Ney 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
While this is a good product, the internet companion leaves something to be desired. I have purchased both this and the Princeton Review book, and would recommend that latter based on a better package of paperback+cd+internet components. A plus side to Kaplan is the fact that you can buy a bundle including the flashcards and a math book with extra practice. Overall it's not bad, but not the best either.
On the fence March 9, 2009 Bdubya2 (Boston ma) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm on the fence with this one. One thing that annoyed me was that I read that I should get this book to replace the previous 2008 edition because of new types of questions, but really, I could have done fine keeping the 2008. A lot of the practice sections and full tests were repeats from the previous edition, so it was a little redundant.
There were also a fair number of typos, although less than the 2008 edition.
One thing I also would have liked would have been options for accomodations, such as extended time which is how I am taking the real test.
Kaplan was ok, but in retrospect, I wish I had investigated other guides such as Princeton Review. I still may have ended up going with Kaplan but I should have checked out what else is out there.
Not Apple Compatible March 8, 2009 J. Smith (Atlanta, GA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I just recently bought this book online to start preparing for the GRE. As soon as it arrived, I inserted the CD-ROM just to discover that it is a Windows ONLY CD. I have an Apple computer so now the CD is useless. I wouldn't be upset except that it doesn't state this ANYWHERE in the product description or cover pages of the book. The book itself is great.
