5 out of 5 stars Say Yes to This Book - It's Packed with Original Ideas   March 6, 2009

Bob's books are packed with original insights and provocative examples.

I had a chance to meet Bob recently at a conference where we were both panelists. He deserves all the accolades heaped upon his work -- he really is on the leading edge of this all-important field of influence.

As one of this book's testimonials states, "This is the Freakonomics of social psychology." If you want to know how to get across ANY message in a way that wins buy-in, buy Bob's book and read it and reap.

5 out of 5 stars The most powerful, helpful book on persuasion I've ever read   February 8, 2009

There are 93 reviews as I write this. Therefore, I won't write a long review or rehash what others have said. Let me simply say that I have read just about everything ever written about persuasion. This is by far the best, most effective book I've read. Moreover, what is written in this book is not a rehash of all the other material. This is all fresh, new material that you can apply instantly. I know I have. I can't express to you enough how great this book is. I wouldn't take $10,000 for my copy.

Just buy it. You'll be glad you did.

5 out of 5 stars If You Liked Cialdini's Influence, You'll Love This One!   January 30, 2009

Did Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini strike a chord with you? If it did, you'll probably really enjoy his new book, "YES!". The new work provides examples (scientific studies) of the six principles of influence applied to a wide variety of specific situations. Really fascinating, with many counter-intuitive results. Each chapter is brief which makes for fast reading. I loved "Yes" and highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Negotiation and Persuasion the Scientific Way   January 12, 2009

This is a remarkable book. It describes the very new field of "social influence" clearly and concisely (to illustrate, when I got my first PHD in 1980, the field of "social influence" was not in existence yet). Social influence is a way to ethically get people to do what we want them to do. But this book is a thousand times better than the best selling books by authors such as Dave Lakhani, Ken Mc Arthur, William Ury, Kurt Mortensen, Robert Bly, Kevin Hogan, John Munkman, etc. Perhaps the reason is because the field of "social influence" is based on modern experimental psychology and its findings have been scientifically ratified and corroborated. This book is even better than its predecessor ie Robert Cialdini's Influence:Theory and Practice. The only book on negotiation and persuasion that is better than this book is Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People? Digest this book, apply its principles and promotion and salary increase will surely be yours. Dr Jusuf Hariman.

5 out of 5 stars Fun Read, Great Appilcations   December 27, 2008

Simply put, this is my kind of book; short, concise and powerful chapters that get right to the point without dragging on and on. If you can't find at least a handful of immediately applicable techniques for increasing your ability to influence in this book, then you might as well stop looking. If you don't own this book, get it. Don't fool with checking it out from the library...you'll want to be able to read it again and again.
