Lower than expected enjoyment October 25, 2009 James V. Waltman 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
The book was okay. He's preaching to the choir. Nothing in it I wasn't already aware of. Would have saved my money and gone to the library to scan through.
Masterpiece October 24, 2009 HarryShooter 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
There is nothing I can say that would adequately describe the brilliance of Liberty and Tyranny. All I can do is recommend it as highly as possible to anyone interested in an intelligent philosophical discussion and analysis of this nation's past and present political trends in regards to our most basic and fundamental freedoms, and the impact of these trends on the individual. Ironically, I rarely ever read nonfiction, but this book was so captivating, as well as enlightening, that I couldn't put it down. I have no qualms about labeling it a masterpiece.
Perspective on Liberty and Tyranny October 23, 2009 Daniel Wolf (Traverse City, MI) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Conservative pundit Levin explores and evaluates the nature of statist and conservative policy in our contemporary world. He poses a set of observations that connect the dots between constitutional principles, federalism, economic philosophy, national affairs, global challenges, and modern tensions in a thoughtful review of founding principles and twenty-first century realities. Levin explores the transformation of American society and politics.
In a well documented chronicle of political and economic transformation, Levin injects serious questions into the important areas of difference and promise. Among the subject matter he dissects in greater depth are issues including:
1) Immigration policy
2) Environmental policy
3) Social welfare policy
4) Market trade policy
5) Fiscal/taxation policy
He also challenges the balance of the administrative, judicial, and executive powers with a constructive debate on founding principles and statist tendencies. For those who find themselves on the conservative side of the national debate, Liberty and Tyranny will serve as a welcome refresher and source of sound argumentation. For those on the progressive end of the spectrum, Liberty and Tyranny may serve as a thoughtful source of perspective and context for constructive debate. For those in the frustrated middle, this book will serve to compare and contrast the conservative agenda in a manner that illuminates the many technical, social, political, market, and economic concerns of the day.
Levin's book is a thoughtful journey through complicated subject matter that is relevant to citizens, those who serve in private enterprise, public officials, and students of all ages. For those who believe constructive debate on important issues of the day ranks high as a desirable national practice, Levin's work provides a concise and practical resource for discourse.

Essential Reading!! October 23, 2009 David M. Foster 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Mark Levin, The Great One. This man is passionate about this country, the way you could imagine our founding fathers or patriots of old were passionate for her.
He says what he means and backs-up what he says. No smoke and mirrors in this book!! I have also read his Men in Black another work that made my blood boil, the truth often times will do that! Get it, read it and know what the left is trying to do!!
