Virus of the Mind September 11, 2009 L. Anderson I have only just started this book, but I like it. It is easy to understant and doesn't get technical, so far.
"Virus of the Mind" Richard Brodie September 8, 2009 Carleton E. McClure "Virus of the Mind " by Richard Brodie is a must read for anyone who has ever considered self improvement. Why is the MEME so important? MEMES ARE IMPORTANT BECAUSE WE ARE ALL INFECTED BY THEM. Knowing WHAT THEY ARE, HOW TO IDENTIFY THEM, HOW THEY REPLICATE, and HOW TO AVOID OR GET RID OF THEM is the first step toward SELF IMPROVEMENT.
Care and Feeding of our "Input..." September 7, 2009 John P. Schumacher (Sun City, Arizona) Richard Brodie's "Virus of the Mind" presents us with the summation of a new way to envision how our mind (and 'mindsets') are truly 'composed.' It is impossible to read this treatise and return to life 'as it was' before being exposed to his insights. Now, I have a constant awareness of the 'stream of memes' that are fighting for space (and, in some cases, dominance) in my mind and, thus, in how I personally think about 'my reality' in life.
The result of acquiring this information is a better sense of the control that we can have over the formation of our own 'mindset,' freeing us from the subtle intrusion of well-designed 'memes' that want to influence that control.
If you have a curiosity about how you have become 'you,' this book and its cogent information will provide you with multiple 'insights' and enable you to build defenses for 'meme-monitoring.' This is truly empowering on the personal level.
An enlightening exposition September 2, 2009 Fred Lamptey (Dumfries, Va USA) It was an eye opener into how our ever evolving personalities get manifested. The lessons learned would help insulate us from the "unassuming" invaders of our life shaping minds.
A powerful survey, this should be in every general library, not just health collections August 20, 2009 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) VIRUS OF THE MIND; THE NEW SCIENCE OF THE MEME is the first popular science coverage of memetics - a new field focusing on DNA. The works of other scientists in the field form the foundation for a blend of scientific and social coverage, examining how the new science will impact our lives and how the concept of 'mind viruses' has already infected and affected governments, educational systems, and urban settings. A powerful survey, this should be in every general library, not just health collections.
