Must read! August 10, 2009 C. Womack (Wichita Falls, Tx) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have worked in EMS for many years and am now a nursing student and I have learned alot over the years about interpreting EKG's, this book has helped me better understand that knowledge and I have recommended it to others in my class that have no experience what so ever. This book is a must have for those seeking to further their knowledge in interpretation or just learning to to read an EKG.
Easy to learn June 28, 2009 Y. Baras (Brooklyn, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
With step-by-step instructions, the author simplifies EKG. The ideas are gradually introduced and then explained in more detail so that it gets to the complicated ideas with a great build-up. Very nice style of teaching.
GREAT book unlike any other May 30, 2009 Ms Book (Roseburg, Oregon United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have two editions, I just bought another. My first book, I bought in 1980 when I graduated and started my first job as an ICU RN . This book was recommended by coworkers and it was a great way to learn EKG rhythms. It has programmed learning taking you from the basics one step at a time, and provides review with fill in the blank. This way you know you are ready to move on. Look at the sample when you click on Look Inside This Book. This is programmed learning. It covers basic rhythms, and more advanced, such as hemiblocks, axis and ST changes.
I think this is the best book to start with for learning EKG rhythms. And, you really learn and retain the information. Excellent, I cannot say enough. It starts with the basics of what an EKG is, how the heart works, the basic EKG intervals, how to measure, and the basic waveforms, before moving on to identifying rhythms. I think that the fill in the blank is a great way to learn and also to review to see if you remember the information. This book has great illustrations for each concept. It is written in small sections easy to read with notes highlighted for special emphasis. Again, use the Look Inside feature to get a feel for how this book presents information.
I recommend this for all new Critical Care and ER RN's or anyone needing to learn EKG rhythms.
Easy way to master EKG's May 29, 2009 Jennifer Gilbert (Oakland, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is amazing! It was hard to get used to his format at first (pictures on every page & Fill in the blanks on every line), but it helped me to retain the information and understand all the concepts every well.
great book April 9, 2009 Olga MD I would highly recommend this book to every medical student. I am a student myself and I have read a lot of EKG material only to realize that I could not remember anything a week later. This book covers basics of EKG, and it does it in a way that it actually sticks into you mind. Great explanations, you learn about EKG step by step, and understand it, not just memorize it. Of course this book is not enough to read EKG in clinical practice, but it gives you good foundation for further studying.
