good book, helps to diagnose December 18, 2007 Jose Palomar Lever (Mexico) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you has learned all neuroanatomy, this a good book to help understand the neuro diagnosis
Good for a first year med student . . . but that is it. December 9, 2007 Trevor L. Kuttler (Iraq) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I found the book to be easy to read and understand as a first year medical student. It was a good introduction to neuroanatomy; however, as a fourth year and intern, I did not find the book to be very useful as a review book when trying to study neurology.
My biggest complaint with the book is that it is poorly organized, especially the index. I was not the only medical student in my class who noticed that the index will direct you to page numbers that have nothing to do with the topic. As a result, I would waste time thumbing through the book searching for the topic until I gave up and went to a more detailed neuroanatomy text.
My second complaint is that it is a cheaply made paperback. It fell apart before I had finished internship, and I rarely used it after first year of medical school. It was definetly not worth what I payed to buy it new.
My recommendation is buy it used for first year of medical school. When you have finished your neuroanatomy course, sell it. If you need a neuroanatomy reference after first year, find something a little more detailed in your med school library or look it up online.
Awesome basic anatomy for those who never took the course! October 22, 2007 Ashlee R. Crumbly (Cleveland, OH USA) Great review and breaks it all down to the basic, even if you never had a anatomy course before.
The Best Neuroanatomy Book for Beginers October 2, 2007 F. Virgen (Tampico, Mexico) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well what can I say?, This book was really a pleasure to read. It covers pretty much of Neuroanatomy and some Neurologic Semiology, always associating an especific anatomic lesion with the Clinical Syndrome found. Figures and charts are very helpful. The way it explained complex stuff in such an easy to read language really surprised me. Of course, it was not intended to be that detailed, but as a first step to get into higher-order stuff.
An amazing book October 1, 2007 M. Vukovic (Adelaide, Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this book, beautifully done, practical, the cases are well chosen, developed, explained. For us visual people this textbook is a heaven. I think it is such good value for money considering usefulness, the size and the quality of illustrations.
