Phenomenal Book March 9, 2007 T. J. JACKSON 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I really do love this book. It is an excellent source when studying for standardized tests. It is easy to understand and full of information. I cannot think of a better mathematics review guide.
Good for Refresher and Review of Math steps and formulas January 7, 2007 F. Horton (Matthews, NC) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I recommend it, but make sure you try to get a copy that has no writing in it. It can be distracting when trying to answer problems yourself.

This book was very informative. I used it to study for my college entrance exam and placed much, much higher than I would have without a review. It is a very good book if you need a general math refesher, as it covers all areas. It is clear and concise and provides great test questions with thorough answers. I have bought a copy for both my brother and sister who are in college and I would definitely recommend this book to you!
Excellent and informative review for those who haven't touched math in years November 19, 2006 Sips of Coke (San Francisco) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
In high school I despised math but understood a lot of the concepts—that is, when I studied. Ten years after graduating college, I'm in line to take the GRE and needed a book that would be a great refresher course. But only on the aspects of math I needed to know.
Jerry Bobrow has written a well organized book that explains complex mathematical concepts in simple terms. Its structure takes you through arithmetic, algebra I, algebra II, and geometry (in that order), followed by some additional material that appears only on certain tests (such as quantitative comparison questions for the GRE). Each of these sections begins with a diagnostic test that helps you determine the scope of your knowledge.
A cautionary note: The book also delineates the types of math questions found on different types of standardized tests. While the laws of physics obviously haven't changed since '85 (the year of this book's first printing), any information about specific tests may be outdated and should be cross-checked. For example, the book states that for the GRE you do not need to know algebra II even though the book covers this. I cross-checked this information in a contemporary source and found it still to be the case.

Extremely well written math review from arithmetic to algerbra. Read this, then do practice questions.
