1 out of 5 stars Not happy with this text   October 1, 2001

I was disappointed with the quality of this text. This book attempts to take a challenging subject and dummy it down into simple terms. What is left is an over- confusing non-accurate text. In two years, not one of my students has liked this book.

5 out of 5 stars This is a great math book   July 16, 2001

This math book is actually interesting to read! What a concept! I've found myself reading the little side notes included in the text while waiting in between classes...but shhhh...don't tell anyone I admitted that. The examples could be a little better, but overall its pretty straight foward and easy to use. My professor told us he quit teaching statistics at the college I go to when they stopped using the Triola book. They just brought it back this semester so he's back teaching. That really says something to me.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic book   March 12, 2001

This is a fantastic intro textbook. Interesting format and unique data sets make for a much easier learning experience. I asked a few Professors about the Z test vs T test question in an earlier review- everyone I talked to sided with Triola's approach. Of note, the fact that the author has posted a response here is a good sign that he cares about what us readers think!

This Paperback edition is the solutions manual NOT the text book

This is the leading introductory statistics book in the US. In response to the comment from the reader in southwest ILL, the use of the Z test instead of the t is NOT wrong. Many of the leading statistics textbooks use the exact same approach. This text has been carefully reviewed for correctness by statisticians before publication.
